I have been through a number of Casinos and it appears that most of the progressives are now based on either Plasma or LCD screens. All have impressive back graphics and 3 or 4 progressives displayed.

What is driving these big screens ? are they platform independent ........

I have a LCD TV in my basement behind my bar and was just thinking about how to interface my curent progressives to use tis display ?

I found that if you choose the support link for this page. It says "priate video" and prompts you for a password.
After about 3 tries... the password is "spectronix".

Hi

Have not seen anyhing available for the home user - Could be a pretty cool project.
Most of the back end systems have the functionality to calculate the progressive values based on the accounting data its recieving. The other option is to use the vendor specific harware to link machines together. Most will have a PC driving the LCD and have a program to do the graphics and meters (which are calculated by the system or vendor hardware).

In my home-brew progressive thread, I uses a Basic Atom to do the calculations and drive a mini LCD and Beta Brite display. Since the Atom can output standard RS232 data (text), it would not be difficult to write a Visual Basic or other program to read that serial text data and display it on a LCD monitor with whatever other graphics one wanted.

On the Mikohn CON1 there is a 2 wire RS??? that sends the Jackpot value to the display controller about 5 times per second.

The message is NOT sent unless you specifically send the message data.

I have not tried hooking this up to my PC yet.

Once I am able to capture the data output I will be able to feed this into a power point like program and do whatever LCD / TV output I want.

With respect to taking the Data output out this would be the send line + the gnd. I would have to short CTS/RTS at the PC end otherwise the PC would ignore this.
This is however assuming that the output is RS232 - I also have a RS485 convertor that I may need to use.

These casino guys never intended to make this easy for the lay person.

There is a small PC inside the sign package with a video loop running on it.  Also there is a cable or blue tooth that sends the progressive amount to the LCD display from the master machine to the PC in the sign.
I have one of these PCs for DND red and blue.
