Trying to install a new game board in a upright PE+.  Bill validator works fine with the original board.  2 questions:

Does the set chip replace the program chip ?  I thought so but not sure now.

Which set chip to use ?  I have tried a set26, set58 & set90, also a couple of unknowns and all I get is white screen.

Will any of these work and am I putting them in the right socket (program chip location, not data chip location) ??  I tried reading the binaries of the unknown set chips but there is nothing in there to tell me what version they are, at least nothing I can pick up on.

I thought there was a thread on the old forum regarding a similar issue but since thats long gone I have to ask.

Any hints or help appreciated.

A Set015 works fine.
You replace the Game Chip. Same as a S+.

Dumb question, but the set 15 chip you're talking about -- is that the same set 15 that would be used in an S+ slot?

Now that I have a DBV for my PE+, I need to ask the same question again -- is the SET 15 for the PE+ the same SET 15 that I already have for my S+?  (...and how can I double-check that what I have is actually a SET 15 -- I bought it off of eBay ages ago and it's just labeled as "IGT SET"?)

Thanks in advance.

I believe there's one chip that will work in both, quite possibly the 15. I personally have a set38 and it works just fine to enable the DBV. I'm sure one of the PE+ pros can confirm or deny it being the 15, I do remember reading one will work with both platforms though

Had the same issue, couple different set chips but no label to tell me specific #.  Ended up using a Set 038 on mine, worked great.

I understand you...I bought a couple of set/clear chip combos on ebay a few years ago....to this day, I still dont know what they are....absolutely nothing on the chips themselves except for a piece of white paper glued on it to cover the glass insert on the chip.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont . Depends on what game I'm installing rotflmao

I wish I would remember to at least write something on them when they do NOT work. Duh!

If you have a programmer the checksum for the set 15 is 8CC3

Thanks,

I use a set 0004 for pe+ poker bv enable, and its written on the label.  Have never heard of anyone using a set 15 for that purpose.

Wayne-

Thanks for the info -- the checksum I have for my chip didn't match either of those, so it'll remain a mystery!   Duh!

I came across a SET 38 so I should be good.

Hmm, wonder what chip you do have there? Interesting... I picked up a SET38 when I first got my PE+ as I planned on changing games here and there, works just fine. Never had problem enabling the DBV with the 38 Smiley
