Me at work

« on: July 07, 2012, 05:19:45 PM »

I have used the "standard" Set15 for years - NOW I read on PSRs that (SP1145 on a 16mhz board)  that set 89 90 91 are used not the set15 -  do you really need the SET90 for ex if all you want to do is activate the BV and set denom?

It really depends. The SET15 will work even on some SP chips that don't specify it in the PSR, but it won't work for all of them. Your best bet is to try it and see. If it doesn't work, then use one that is specified in the PSR. SET90 is a useful one to have.

I thought all of the set chips were backwards compatible for setting the BV and denomination. Seeing how the SET015 is pretty much the "standard" that is sold on ebay, I figured it would work for evey SP (for BV).

I agree that a SET090 is a good one to have in the collection.

Barry, you can get by with the set15 to enable the BV and set denom on most S-Plus chips. There are a few that will require others, but not many. You will need the correct chip to enable and set up progressives (IE:set88,89,90) for most. Also if you are trying to do 1 cent or 5 cent or token or international currency you will need the proper chip and if you get into SAS stuff you really need the proper chip. Otherwise a set15, set90 and a IVC123 will get you thru 98% of the time.  Check you mail...
