Last Tuesday my wife and I were in a casino.  She had her named called over the PA and won $1,000 in free slot play!

Because of the timing we had to leave.   We quickly ran to Sex in the City (I know I know she won OK not me)  and she was able to burn $300 slot dollars into $255 real dollars.

Here's how it works -  you transfer an amount from your account to the slot - in our case we did $50 increments -   then you can only cash out what you WIN and must play the amount transferred ($50)  I stood behind her and counted 25 spins.  After 25 spins ($50) I made her cash out and took the ticket and we repeated.  


What is the best way to play the remaining $700 we have?

High limits? Max bet? We have until January 31st to use the money

first off congrats to your wife - and you - for the free play win!! 

i think you have a good plan for maximum profit by tracking the free play and cashing out when you've burned through the downloaded amount each time.  if it were me and i had $1000 free to play on i would head for the high denom machines and play it out.  usually the higher the bet the better the par on the game.    in my casino the max bet allowed is $25 so i would head over to our $5 denom video poker machines and play max at $25 per hand in hopes of a $20,000 royal.  of course at $25 per hand you are only going to get 28 games before you burn through the $700 you have left but the odds are much better than if you just went to your favorite 1¢ machine like SITC even if you bet max.  in fact you should stay away from participation machines in general because the casino recoups the lease costs with lower pars.
maybe look for a progressive that's unusually high and take a shot at it.  or just do like you did and enjoy the free play on some of your favorite machines!!  whatever you do it isn't costing you jack sh!t so it's a win-win situation.
btw: always bet max if you can afford it

First of all I glad to see I'm not the only one that counts spins when playing free play amounts. The Question I have is are you looking to gamble the $700 and take what you get or are you looking to convert it to guaranteed Money?

Do they have video roulette, and are you able to download freeplay to the machine?  If so, that's the quickest and easiest way to wash your freeplay.

If available, find a single zero machine and use that one.  If straight-up numbers pay back 35-1, bet two dollars on Zero, 35 dollars on red, and 35 on black.  You'll be wagering $72 and will "win" $70 of it back no matter what the outcome.  In round numbers, it will cost you $20 to wash the $700 in freeplay (leaving you with $680 cash (tax free, I might add) that you can walk away with guaranteed).

If they only have double-zero machines, the process is essentially the same, although you need to cover both the single Zero and Double Zero (at an additional cost).  You'll still be guaranteed to walk away with most of the freeplay.


If they do not offer video roulette, my next best suggestion would be to find a multi-hand low denomination video poker machine, and play a low-volatility game like Jacks or Better or Bonus Poker (make sure that Two Pair pays 2-for-1).  For example, if you could find a 100-play penny machine, at max bet that's $5 a spin, but because the money is spread over so many hands you'll come close to breaking even each hand.  Your expected loss on $700 in freeplay cycled through once will be around $10 to $30, depending on the paytable offered.  Of course, you must know some basic strategy for the game, and your mileage will vary -- you may wind up with a bigger loss, or you may wind up coming out ahead of the $700 figure.

Just as you did with the slot machine play, count your hands to keep track of how much you've played through, and cash out once you've met the requirement.  Don't be too worried about cashing out "early" -- if you neglected to play through all of the requirement, the remaining amount will remain on the machine waiting to be played.  To that end, be extra sure that the credit meter reads "$0.00" or "0 Credits" before you walk away from the machine after you've cashed out.  If you have any promotional credits remaining, they'll still be on that machine (and the next player will get a nice bonus from you).

I agree with Knagl, Jacks or Better and Bonus Poker are my first choices for free play $$$.

Hopefully they have video roulette then.

As far as cashing out early, that's how it's worked on every system I've played on. If I download freeplay from my card to the machine and cash out before playing it through, the TITO will print for any freeplay that's been washed, but the unplayed amount will remain on the credit meter.

The machines at the Atlantis in Reno are nice in that they show your free play in the Player tracking display and count down what you use and then show your remaining balance.

P.S. Congrats on the $1000!!! The best I ever got called up for was for $100, and speaking hypothetically of course I may have not been there then and hypothetically someone could have collected for my Mom, again hypothetically of course!
