I have a Bally S5500, one dollar-three Line slot machine.
When I put a one dollar bill into the bill acceptor, it registers 4 credits.
Does this mean it thinks it is a quarter machine ?
Is there a way to adjust this feature ?

You need to configure the dip switches to correspond to the denomination then do a RAM CLEAR.  The dip switch configuration for the denomination is in module 2 of the 5500 manual.  Do you have a module 2 manual?  It has a detailed ram clear procedure.  In order to do it without clear chips you will need a series 92 mains.  Can you post a picture of your main eproms which will be u3,u4,u12,u15

I am pretty sure they are 9200 Main's, there is a clear jumper at the right front of the board.

I have been looking in the manual, but it doesn't seem to match my board. Unless I am not looking at it right.
I have included a photo and circled JW3 and JW4.

DIP Switch Selections
Two eight-switch DIP packages labeled on the MPU
board as JW3 and JW7 set the following machine
functions:
JW3 - Denomination, Bill Acceptor, Reel Spin,
Diverter Optic, EFT present (MC=01)

sw1 sw2 sw3 sw4 Value Denomination
OFF ON  ON   OFF 0009  1

I just don't see any dip switches at JW3 or JW7.

Are they identified as JW3. Or S1-S2 at the other end of the board.

One day I pulled out my MPU and saw dipswitches all over the place.
Bally made all kinds of boards...they wanted to confuse the heck outta us.

I thought that if you had the Stay-In" mains - that all you had to do was press the
two white until the tips of your fingers turned blue?

If you have 92000 mains you must move the jumper at JW 10  to do a clear.   All 8 dip switchs at JW 7 are always ON     chart below is for Dips at JW 3

Looking at the pictures, he has punch out blocks and not dip switches. He might need to get some dip switches to replace those punch out blocks. That might be confusing him.

That's a great sheet Buzz!

Good catch coors!
I've never seen "punch-out blocks" before.
There must of been some other kind of mains in there that didn't need dips...
but all the 5500 MPU's I've ever sen all had dips? Strange huh?

colorado  Why don't we go back to where you started this thread. You want to change your machine, what do you want to change it to??  You stated it's a Dollar machine, does it take dollar size coins/tokens ??

When I put a dollar bill into the bill acceptor it registers 4 credits.
I would assume it should register 1 credit.

I did also see the chips at JW3 and JW7 that had certain sections that were
not connected at the center.  I didn't know they were called
punch out blocks.  Is it safe to assume they work similar
to a dip switch.
Connected= on.
Punched out or not connected= off.

Yes, punched out is open or off
not punched is on.

If you need a couple of dip switch packs to plug in their place I will send you a few.  PM me your address

It is hard to tell in your picture but punch block at JW3 looks like starting at the top or dot end , the first 4 look like open, open, closed, open. that would be positions 1,2,3,4

that is a 25 cent setting. Your need them to be open, closed, closed, open for a dollar setting.
