Was looking to buy Tripple Double Wild cherry machine but was told that model had problems with the reels fading badly and that they water based paint on them. I think they said that because they didn't have one in stock and probably wanted sell me one they had.

Why would they be any different than any other machine? Looking for any input or experience about it.

Those strips were made in washable and non-washable types. The non-washable strips were subject to fading moreso than the washable and it seems the flourescent reel lighting is the culprit. Also, washable and non-washable depended on when they were made. All machines from IGT at one time were subject to having non-washable strips and fading, it wasn't exclusive to the TDWC theme by any means. Long story short, if you get a machine with faded strips it would be a pretty fair bet you could find a replacement set of washable strips for it and they're easy to install. Besides that, Triple Double Wild Cherry is a very desirable theme to have yes

At one time, IGT printed strips w/o a protective seal (does anybody know why? cost effective maybe?). I'm going to assume the strips they are referring to/selling are not protected and non-washable type.  Basically, those strips belong in the trash if you ask me. Maybe somebody here can sell you some washable strips if you really want that game!!! Good luck

cowboygames beat me to the punch  frying pan  but as you can see, it's relatively the same info!

It may well have been a lack of knowledge versus an attempt at subversion on his part. I only have that information because I've been a member here for some time. IGT sure doesn't advertise it no I would suspect it was there way of making money on replacement parts back when they were geared more toward selling machines instead of leasing them. Kinda like when GM gave lifetime warranties on timing chains AFTER the first replacement. Well, the origional one was some type of plastic and the first replacement was metal so they get their money out of you at least once. yes
