I am trying to change over from a off the charts to a jackpot party the chip set I have does not have a XU 18 chip the machine works fine but I have no sound. Is my chip set incomplete or is there a jumper or dip switch setting I need to change. I noticed on a spare I/O board that I have that one of the dip switches is on and the board in the machine has them all off. I could not find any explanation for what the dip's are for in the manuel I have.

All the dip switches should be off--I havent ever touched those for game changes as I believe they only apply to setting up a progressive system.  Jackpot Party should have XU17, 18, 30, 31 as well as the game and data XU3 and XU2 and the 3 dotmation chips.  So it does look like you are missing XU18.  When you find one from someone here (not me), your sound jumper should be set to "P7-P7 OUT".  Good luck!

I would beg to differ, maybe an early version didnt have XU18 but here are my original eproms which shows XU18 is the 4th sound chip.  If the kit works with or without XU18, I am thinking the problem should be the sound jumper.  Also need to check the simple things like the volume is turned up, and the speaker is connected and doesnt have a broken molex connector.

I concur with Coorslight ( hey Tim)...   There are 9 chips in all ( 3 in top box and then xu2, xu3, xu17, xu18, xu30, xu31 on the board).  Mine is standard Jurisdiction ( no jumpers )   and P7-P7 out.   96% .....   Bill

I got new software and its working fine now it was kind of funny though at first I just changed the sound chips and everything worked but when I pushed select lines or help or any button in the stup menu(including the ram clear set up) it would play the reel spin song. so I put in the new xu2, xu3 and it worked fine.
