I got a small issue I am seeing. Both my machines are on top of two sturdy heavy duty stands... and are sitting level.....
My question. I am having to pretty much slam the door on both machines and slightly lift the door at the same time to get them to shut.
What is the best way of a remedy to this problem? They have pretty much done this since I got them. Is it that they have just seen too much use?
Can it be corrected with little effort?

Cry Laughing bust gut laughing rotflmao  I'm sorry...your problem reminds me of a couple of security guards with size 13 boots that thought they were helping me by slamming doors on a few slots I work on...  arrow

There are so many sensitive electronics on S2000 doors that slamming a door is the WRONG way for their life expectancies.
Try dropping your precious laptop on the floor just once and see how well it performs after that!  Duh!

The hinges on S2000's were made in Japan or Mexico.
The density of the steel used was compared to rubber.
Heavy duty machinery truck rubber was actually stiffer than the steel used for the door hinges on IGT slots.
Add time, heat, humidity, thousands of door openings and closures - you will have piano door hinges as soft as Tupperware in a bonfire.

All you gotta do is GENTLY close the door, push up on it just a touch to allow the latch to freely work onto the pins
and the door should close very nicely.

                           or

Find somebody with size 13 boots that has extensive experience with roadway jackhammers
and bench presses two ton tractor tires regularly every morning after ingesting about 7 raw eggs from a plastic jug..

If you have printers mounted next to reel 3 that can make the doors harder to close as well.
I believe it is because the printer sticks out a bit to far and likes to drop down a bit as well when the door is open.

hmmmm... One has a printer mounted next to reel three.... and its shuts easier than the other machine... the hardest one to shut is the triple double wild cherry and its printer is mounted above the reels...
None of the machines will allow you to shut the doors "gently" as they should... Ive tried.. But you do have to push up gently on the door..
But neither shut gently as I know they should... Just don't know what can be done to correct it so they shut like they both should..much like closing a laptop lid...

check the fit on the player tracking panel cover and glass support bracket
I have noticed if they are not just right the cover can be difficult to remove or interfere with the door closing a bit.
Also check the printer bezel on the one in the top box it has a lip that also interfere with the door as well.

Try removing the bottom speaker tray bracket and see if it closes easier then. If it is not pushed down enough the door will not close with out slamming it

That is one thing that they F$%#ed up on the S2000's compared to the S+ Tanks!!! Duh! frying pan bawling hissy fit muted

Not only are the hinges not as good, but the cabinets themselves are more flimsy and less reinforced than their predecessors!

I think the Bean Counters Nerd wanted to save a few pennies! Silly Me!

I agree with the gentle but forceful approach. banghead

I think the cabinets flex too much too.
The piano hinges aren't the best either and there's so much electronics and stuff on the doors
that the weight cases them to go a little out of square.

I find a little lift on the bottom right corner of the door has I hold the latch with my left hand works good on mine.
Or a little push on the top right corner...Foster's right about "drooping bezels" too.  yes bawling
The bezels are attached to the bill heads with two plastic slides and I've seen one bill bezel "slide" broken on different machines
as a result of the size 13 boots slamming the doors.
I do NOT slam the doors on slot machines ever.  no

Yea, the bezels do drop.....
Each machine has its own "quirk" and sometimes I get frustrated as I forget if I need to pull up on one, and the other one simply needs me to Hold the top of the door before closing... If I get it backwards or forget the quirk that is required to shut that particular machines door I end up getting pissed off and you know the result.. So I am going to take time this weekend and check everything you guys have mentioned to see if I can smooth it out some...
I just had a brain storm.. You know how your fancy car has an electric trunk release and electric closure??
Wouldnt that be awesome if the door was electric in latching!
Ok guys... post your youtube video in this thread of you closing your slot machine door....
That way if we find in one of your videos you end up using too much force to close the door we are going to slap you.
ha!

The S+'s were built like tanks though!
They could probably hold up to a size 13 boot  yes

As far as a video clip of me closing a door...uh...does this pass?  bust gut laughing ...>>>

ok.. this is my GF closing my Triple Double Wild Cherry..... as gently as possible...this door she has to pick up on slightly while still holding the door latch in the up position...
Notice she has to go back a second to pick up the door a little more, than she said she felt like she was slamming it.
I agree......

and this is my GF closing the door on our Double Diamond...
Notice this one does not take quite as much effort, but you do have to brace the top of the door with your hand or it will not shut.
Again, I still feel this door is taking too much effort to close.

I had the same problem with some machines and noticed when I removed the coin tray that they closed much easyer, so I removed the plug for the bottom speaker and its mounting bracket from the tray and it made a big difference. I also put  alittle oil in between the latch that slides up and down and the frame and I cleaned all the burrs of the latches with a file and sand paper then I bent the latches slightly  and now when I shut them the latch falls down into place on it's own. I have also had one whare the roller bearing was bent way down and I just straitend it out with a pair of plyers.
