On the topic of reels - On my Black Cherry machine when one reel nudges up or down it shakes like a spring recoiling.   Is there any way to tweak this? Other than replacing it that is  Tongue Out

Not that I would do this, but I have seen a small piece of electrical tape put on the reel shaft cross pin and then the basket pushed back down to tighten it up

So the problem lies with the basket?  The plastic stretched out?

You will get some shaking but if isn't tilting I doubt the stepper's are slipping, on other brands the reel baskets use rubber o rings to absorb the shock, and when they get hard from the heat they are noisy and tilt, this is common on the old Bally 5000 and even the WMS Reel games as they use them and get bad, but the IGT just uses the plastic with a knurled bent over formed opening and when there is play you usually get a lot of noise first, if all 3 reels are doing it I suspect normal action, if one more than the other I would guess the plastic has got hard and some play in it

Why would that only affect the nudge?  When the reel stops it is perfect?  Scratch Head

the nudge usually accentuates the action more than a regular reel stop.  There likely isn't anything wrong with yours, have you seen another nudge machine working?

Thanks,

I was going to say that a slight vibration is normal when a reel nudges, but if you notice it more on one than the other two, then it might be loose.

Not that I would do this, but I have seen a small piece of electrical tape put on the reel shaft cross pin and then the basket pushed back down to tighten it up

I thought that this was a recommended way to deal with loose reels.
Jim, why wouldn't you use this solution? What would you do instead?

Try out Jim's tape trick on that reel or change the basket if you have a spare.  Dont drop the retainer though, it can be a pain to find it when you have machines all around, a little bounce, a little roll, next thing you know you are looking to buy a new retainer.

Only Factory authorized recommended procedures should be used, replacement parts from the OEM are best, never deviate from standard procedures, replace complete assembly and the one on each side when one fails, never exceed the speed limit, brush twice a day, do as I say not as I do, don't follow me I'm lost, if all else fails read the instructions or in this case do what you have to do
