OK, So I'm in the process of converting a 5 reel S2000 to a 3 reel Red, White, & Blue and have run into a problem. I replaced the front button panel with a panel from a 3 reel game, also replaced the buttons/button harness with S2000 buttons/button harness...Everything appears to be connected properly but the buttons do not function.

The machine has no reels in it yet so the machine shows "Reels Disconnected/Call Attendant" message, but everything else is complete inside so I decided to see if I can access the service menu...I can access the service menu but the front panel buttons aren't working and I can't select any menu options since the buttons aren't working.

Am I missing something? Do I need to change something besides the front button panel, buttons and button harness? The part the harness connects to (unsure of the proper technical term) is original from the 5 reel game, I'm referring to the metal "wall" ( knockout) inside the lower portion of the machines door (INSIDE  THE GAME).....

Would a clear make any difference? Could something be faulty? Or did I screw something up bad this time?  Duh!

Did you change the door IO cards? The 5 teel uses a twin 7802 IO vard config and the 3 reel probably needs the single 7801 IO card config

I had a similar problem with a 3 reel (no conversion) and went through the trouble of switching out the entire button harness with a known working one.  Same problem.  Buttons would not work.

Turned out to be a bad Display panel.  When the harness going to the coin in / credit display was disconnected, all of the buttons lite up.

Good luck.

Darn! I thing your right! I never changed the IO cards!

That would make perfect sense since I never swapped them...Oops!!!
I'll try and get one and let everyone know if it works Smiley

Thanks!
