Up until a few weeks ago the bill acceptor and validator on the mk5 machine were working.  When the machine is turned on now, the stacker does not seem to go through its routine (kinda used to make a funny noise).  The green lights (runway) on the bill acceptor are on, however the red symbol (like the old ghostbusters) is lit.

Any thoughts on why this has happened? What to look out for? It still accepts coins, but it takes a while to get in credits etc.

Ok, just an update.

There are no lockup errors on boot up, however once I pull the connector from the side of the bill acceptor its shows a lockup error (Bill Accpetor OOE) - so does this mean power is getting to the BA? Is there someting on the game boards (like a chip that tells the BA to allow notes)?

Wher can I source a BA from?

The GPT accepter has a motor in the cash can to operate the stacker. On the can you will find metal tabs that mate with the accepter head. Ocassionally the tabs get pushed back and no longer mate with the head. This will stop the pusher mech from operating and the validator will not work.
Worth a look.
