I have gotten allot of good information from here and from people here Hail applause so I have another problem.

OK so when I bought this Jackpot Stampede Deluxe game (with dotmation) the guy said that it used to take dollars but a month or so before I bought it, it stopped taking them. Scratch Head When I tried (to see what it would do) it took the dollar in the BV but the transporter wouldn't move to accept it and give me credits for it.  I have read just about everything I could find in here to get it to work and still nothing.  I have tried to fix it myself, even bought one off eBay and replaced the entire unit but that still didn't make it work. no no  I took the entire unit out of the other WMS games we have and those don't work in Stampede either.  I even tried the wiring harnesses that came from the unit off eBay.  What else can I try?  Any suggestion from you guys?? Help

Oh also, I assn the machine has one of those computer type power supplies in it. Scratch Head  Could it be that power supply going bad not allowing power to the transporter??  I'm including some pics so ya'all can see what the inside of it looks like.

Thanks for any help on this.  Ron

PS - I know how everything gets looked at on pictures rotflmao so to tell you I am aware that the reel clip is broken yes and the extra black wire with the connectors on it is no longer in there no.  It was for a mickey-moused light that was ran up to the top because the fluorescent wasn't working when I bought it so they ran a light up to it.

If that big yellow thing is a transformer...man that's huge!...
Could probably fit in the grey can on top of the telephone pole in front of my house!!! bust gut laughing

Are the dipswitches right on the DBV?... may be the guy moved the switches positions?

The BV and transport and everything (including the one I bought on eBay) worked in every other WMS game we have.  I tried 4 different units in this machine and then put them in other machines.  I don't think any of these machines have the same complete units in them that they started out with and they all still accept money still. This one takes the money but still won't transport the money to the bill can.

On top of the transport is a white gear
open the money door, take out the cash box.
while rolling the white gear with your left hand , look around and peer into the cash box
and watch the transport go up or down...
make sure you manually roll the white gear until the transport bill pusher is fully to the top of the transport carrier.
put the cash box back in and turn on the power with the door open until everything is ready.
close the door and drop a one dollar bill in and see what happens....
report back to us with exquisite details....

Well I got out of my chair and  Cactus in and stirred the homemade potato soup I am making.  Then I  Cactus out and did all the instructions you put down.

I opened the bill door and opened the main door,
rolled the white knob all the way down while watching the transport bill pusher go as far down as it would go
then manually rolled it back up again until it stopped.
I put the cash box in
turned the machine on with both the main door and the bill door open
I heard a slight back and forth movement of the DBV
then I heard the transport bill pusher going down and coming back up (watched it too)
then the DBV made noise like it was trying to take in a dollar, then stopped.  All sounds like the other machines so far.
The door said 'cash open' so I closed the main door and waited for the machine to cycle
The dotmation showed 'calling attendant' (which is me of course) so I called out my own name.
I closed the bill door and waited for the machine to cycle again and all was normal.
I put in the same dollar I used on all the other machines (to make sure it worked). The dollar is green and a one dollar bill with a picture of a dead president on it.
The DBV took the dollar like a fat kid on a cupcake and then stopped in the usual spot and wouldn't spit it back out.
I turned off the machine and turned it back on and the machine spit the dollar bill (with the dead president on it) out to me like I just fed Valveeta to a rich person.
Once I did all that I  Cactus back to the kitchen and stirred the potato soup and came to write this.

rotflmao I know, I was in the mood to be a smart @ss but you did say to 'report back to us with exquisite details.... ' so I did. rotflmao bust gut laughing rotflmao

On a side note, the other way to get the DBV to spit it back out is to unplug the forward most wiring harness and plug it back in.  Also, I didn't do it this time though, but once you put the bill in and it stops, if you open the machine and open the top to the DBV you can see the bill just sitting there, mostly in the transport and partially in the DBV.  If you want to see what I am talking about just let me know and I will take a picture.

Well,
I hope the potato soup was good at least.... Tongue Out

Something's blocking the bill from going through obviously...clear the track or look for broken gears perhaps?
also, the belts may need to be cleaned...must be slipping on the dead president... rotflmao

Ron     I'm pretty sure I told you, the complete BV ( Chassis and all ) in the Big Bang Pig, you got from me, is out of a Bally 5500. That was one of my Sons pet projects. I just called him to confirm  this. The BV electrical plugs in a Bally and a Williams are the same.   The next time you come over remind me, I have at least 40 Bally chassis and twice that many transports. In rereading your post a bunch of times I would check the micro switch for the cash can. If the switch is bad or a wire came loose the machine thinks there is no cash can in place so it doesn't have a place to put your dollar bill. Better yet bypass the switch and throw the cash can away!!

I'm pretty sure, actually, that on the Dotmation games if the switch is working and there's no can installed, you get the "Calling Attendant" Dotmation screen.  As such, if his switch was malfunctioning with the can installed, he'd still get that message.

I don't know if the soup was good or not.  There is no way my stomach would allow me to eat that.  I heard it was good though.

OK I got to digging around and the original dollar bill system that was in the Stampede game is now in the Jackpot Party game and it works great.

Buzz, yea I knew that the original dollar bill system was from Bally.  You told me when I bought the machine from you.  That isn't in there anymore.  I took that one out and put it in the Stampede game and it didn't work either.  I paid $100 bucks for an original WMS bill system, that's now in Piggy. The one that was in the Piggy is put away for back up.  I might buy a couple more from you too if I can ever get to my supply cupboard. bust gut laughing There has to be something with the cash can microswitch or the wiring for it.  And thinking about it, I don't think I ever checked the wiring for that.

You have seen my garage. stir the pot / get cooking frying pan  Right now I couldn't find a multimeter in there to save my soul.  I might have to go buy a new one so I can have one on hand.

I have duct tape over the switch now but took it off last night to do some testing.  I don't know if i get the 'call attendant' screen or not but will check it out while I am out there today.

Kangl  This thing won't let me put a quote up  but in reply 5, Ron said it showed Calling Attendent.

Ron are you changing the whole chassis are just the transport and bill head?  And what makes you think I would charge you for a part?

I am changing everything out - it is just 4 wiring harnesses and two screws.  The whole system that was in Piggy has a quick interchangable transport but the systems in the WMS games don't have that unless you tear the entire thing apart.  I even tried that one in Stampede in Piggy and it worked.

And what makes you think I would charge you for a part?
I never said you would charge me for a part, I said I might buy a couple from you. There's no reason why you should always have to give stuff away, why not make some of your money back, even if it's just a little bit of money.

If you are home today so am I.  You can come over if you want and check this machine out for yourself.  I'll be home.

Well, I wanted to thank Buzz for trying to help me on this, with the time on the phone and my poor description of things.  With his help I have concluded that there is something wrong with one of the MPU boards or even the mother board itself.  The wiring harness goes directly into the mother board.  Anyway, I think I will let it be for now. I'm used to putting quarters in some of my other games so this isn't a big deal.  Stayoutofthebunger and Knagl, thanks for your help too. Hail
