Hi everyone,

i'm new in this site (and in the world of video poker) and hope i post at the right place.
I have an IGT joker wild that i try to repair. When i put it on, it says on the screen bad cmos call the attendant.
I think the problem is in my mainboard (Serial 7570340 Rev D), because i see a component burn, and i haven't got the diagram to know the refernece to replace it, it's a component in place Q8.
Does anyone can help me or indicate me where i can find the schematics ?
Sorry for my bad english, i'm french.

Many thanks.

Pierre.

Transalated to english>>

Hello Pierre,
Welcome to NLG, please excuse my french
I am Canadian

The "bad CMOS" message doesnt neccessarrily mean the CMOS is bad.
All it means is  that the CMOS has lost it's memory a bit.

Open the door.
Push on the white test button
Hold it for about 3 seconds.
Close the door.
Does it work now?

If not,
Open the door.
Turn the jackpot reset key.
Push the white test button.
Hold it for about 3 seconds.
Close the door.

Take a look for the manual in the "SUBMIT-A-NEW-FILE" section

There you'll see it!

Was I close enough for our english readers? Editing is welcome...
Please excuse my french.

It sounds like what I intended to say..... (thankfully !) ... I don't use much French working in Alberta for an Itallian company.
In my early days I used to bounce between Geneva and Paris fairly frequently.
When you are imerssed in the language it comes a lot easier than trying to translate on the spot.
I know just enough to get myself slapped......

Congratulations on getting your machine up and running!

You may need a SET chip in order to enable the bill validator.  Press the white test button and page through the menus -- you should see a screen that says "Bill Validator" (or is it "Bill Acceptor"?), and then an indication as to if it's "enabled" or "disabled."

If it is disabled, you will need a SET chip to enable it.

Hello again,

thanks knaql, effectively it's writen "the bill acceptor must be enabled by the denomination setup chip" and also bill acceptor...disabled.
The reference of the acceptor are IBA4 notes acceptor, igt part N° 62539990.
Can you, please, explain me what is a set chip ?

Regards.

A set chip, or "denomination setup chip" is a chip that you temporarially install on the MPU circuit board to enable the bill validator.  It essentially gives permission to the machine to enable the bill validator.

You can purchase a set chip from any of the vendors listed at the top of this page, or likely from any machine vendor you know of in your area.

To enable the bill validator on a PE+:

- Turn the machine off.
- Remove the MPU board
- Remove the current chip in the "Program" socket
- Install the SET chip in the Program socket (make sure to install the chip with the notch in the same direction as the chip you removed)
- Put the MPU board back in the machine and turn the power on

You should now see a screen similar to this:

(Thanks to Stolistic for the screenshot from his blog!)

Follow the directions on the screen -- use the Jackpot Reset key to set the correct denomination ($0.05, $0.25, etc.), and use the Deal/Draw button to toggle the "Disabled/Enabled" option to "Enabled."

IMPORTANT!  Make sure to press the white "self test" button to save the settings, and wait until you see "Options Saved" on the screen (like in the picture above).  Once you've done that:

- Turn the machine off
- Remove the MPU board
- Remove the SET chip from the Program socket and put your game program back in its place
- Install the MPU board again
- Turn the machine on -- your bill validator should now work
