I have an S2000 that has the game chips on the piggy back board.  When I access the sound options.  I can not set the multimedia to preferred.  I still get only regular game sounds while playing, but the attraction audio does work.

Here are the chips on my board.  VS011GX1, SG000363, DSPL0002, SB100955, DSV00042.  I don't think the sound chip is bad, but I will double check it with one of my other machines.   

I will have to check the MPU for a model number and post later tonight

So you've got a 1270 board with legacy adapter and your dspl chip is there. Likely one of 3 things. Your simm is bad/dirty, your dspl chip is bad or your game theme doesn't support the 42 simm

OR,
the game is a 5 reel 180 or 360 credit machine and it never had enhanced sounds.
Advise what game theme and maybe you have the options for enhanced sound with a lower credit chip

the game is a Triple Double lucky 7's.  9 lines 5 per per line,  mpu board is H20443  pn 75512702.

Check the seating on your dspl0002 and your sound simm. Maybe clean the contacts on the simm card. As neonkiss noted, your sb chip may not support enhanced sounds either from that simm or any at all

Tried a good Sim in the slot from my other one.  also cleaned and reseated the dsp chip same thing.  I bet the SB does not support the enhanced audio
