We recently purchased a bank of 10 slots and progressive set. The machines are Bally 6000's and the progressive set is a Paltronics JPC X2.
The controller works, etc. However, we need to reprogram the controller and we do not have the cable for the program port (we do have the software).
Unfortunately, we can't find the schematics to create the cable. If anybody wants to take a continuity tester and tell me what their cable looks like, that would be awesome... (i.e. pin1 db9 to pin4 cat5)

Thanks!

I am building a jackpot consolidator that will connect to Mikohn and Paltronics Jackpot controllers.  I havem the Mikohn connections working fine but I am having trouble with the Paltronics.

I can connect to the controller and analyse the strings being fed out from the controller to feed the medai server but I cannot decode them.  Does anybody have any details of how to decode the strings coming our from the com port.  These normally go into the machine bank graphic media server.

On the Mikohn there should not be anything coming from the com port. You have a 2 wire display output that is Rs422.
Its my understanding that the message information is dowloaded once to the display controllers - sort of an on-demand event generated from the PSP software and the rest of the time under normal operations you just get the jackpot amount updated about 6 times per second. The info should not be that hard to decode as you would know the value that is being displayed on the meter and you should see the repetive string of characters repeating.

John Acres (founder of Mikohn) is a participant here and should be able to provide futher insight to the string format.

Jan, thanks for your assitance here.  Unfortunately it is the Paltronics unit that is being difficult.  With the Mikohn we can decode it perfectly.  The Paltronics is a lot more difficult.
