Station Casinos removing a large portion of full-pay video poker

Station Casino's are removing most of their "full-pay" video poker machines. When played correctly these machines pay a theoretical 100% and 100%+.  Article says a 101% machine pays $101 for every $100 wagered. Not exactly true!
The 101% would balance out over several hundred thousand hands and that with playing each hand "by the book". Been to Palace Station several times and I always search out the 100%+ machines. Going to be harder to find now!

GVR, which is featured in this article, still has quite a few.  I agree with the last, long comment in the article as well ... more and more I see stupid things going on in the casino that do not cater to true gamblers at all.  "They" (collectively) seem to be losing touch with their players and becoming much more corporate.  I tried those personalized machines and haven't played them since.  I couldn't even get a pair and that ... and that alone ... will keep me from playing them ever again.  Any gambler knows/feels that.  It's sad to see the casinos losing touch with their players.  Still, I played like a lunatic this weekend.  Lost a lot of money this weekend ... can you tell?  Grrrrr ... ha ha.

I thought the Station casinos were where the locals in Vegas went and they were geared more toward that theory with better payback on the machines

Yes, true, don't get me wrong, it's the only place I play.  If you can't find me at home, I'm either on the golf course or at Green Valley Ranch. 

It's just that GVR has changed management over the last year and some things are better and some things are worse (e.g., they closed one bar for repair and then lowered payouts in the other bars - not nice!).  Truth is, a lot of new games start at GVR before they hit the other Stations, so I do have the advantage of seeing them first.  Personally, I didn't like those new WMS custom poker machines.  I signed up ... but ended up making the settings very similar to IGT.  And, as I said, I couldn't get a pair. 

Over the last 2 years, GVR has spread their game inventory across many other vendors (WMS, Atronics, Aristocrat, etc.).  My guess is they're probably twisting IGT's arm a bit or getting really good deals from the other vendors, but IGT remains my favorite for video poker.  It's all I play (at home and at casino).  And a pretty WMS with lots of lights won't change me so long as it doesn't pay.  About the only WMS I like is Lucky Lemmings.

I probably should not post this as this is one of Vegas's best kept secrets.
The palace station has the best seafood bar.
Last time I was in town, we went from the airport to the Palace station at 11.00 as we knew our strip hotel would not be ready.

Played a bit of blackjack afterwards.
$5 tables with 3/2 payback and a real shoe.

I don't mind those 6 deck shufflers where they take the stack and put it in the shoe, but I loathe the continious shufflers where each hand is fed back in.

On the strip nothing under a $25/hand table has a real shoe and they payback 6/5.
