Ceronix Monitors 1490;

Problem; Blackout.
Solution; Repl. 159B (Horizontal nadjustment resistor)

Problem; Power supply churping (blackout)
Solution; Repl. 225 & 226.

Problem; No characters, green screen.
Solution; Repl. 34G (green video amp).

Problem; Pwr. supply churping
Solution; Repl. 126 (vertical pwr amp) & 125 (capacitor).

Problem; Black across the top half of the CRT.
Solution; Repl. 125 (capacitor).

Problem; Power supply churping.
Solution; Repl. Flyback XFMR.

Problem; Backround colors fade after a couple seconds after being turned up.
Solution; Repl. 087 (Xistor, part of composit blanking ckt).

Problem; Bad video.
Solution; Repl. 164B (470 ohm 1/2 W resistor) & 030 (Current limiting ckt).

Problem; Screen red.
Solution; Repl. 40G

Problem; Blackout.
Solution; Repl. Flyback XFMR.

Problem; Horizontal too narrow, can't adjust w/remote pot.
Solution; Repl. 221 (Horizontal with coil).

Problem; Blackout.
Solution; Repl. 125 & 126 (pin 2 to grd. measured 12 ohms-should be 3 to 4 Meg ohms).

Problem; Fading, fading, gone...looked like Beam Current Limit Ckt.
Solution; Resoldered neck board (CRT connector had broken loose from neck bd.).

Problem; No picture.
Solution; Repl. Flyback XFMR
Problem 2; No raster, no filaments.
Solution 2; Repl. 073 (Auto Bias IC).

Problem; Video collapsed (horizontal compression).
Solution; Repl. 122.

Problem; Too dark-no adjustment.
Solution; Repl. 423 (2200pF, 1KV cap, supplies a low AC impedance to grd. to insure CRT gain is constant during each Horiz. line.)

Problem; Black lines streaking monitor.
Solution; Repl. 146.

Problem; Top of screen "hazed".  Actually it looked like the top 1/4 raster was in vertical jitter.
Solution; Repl. 124.

Problem; No blue.
Solution; Repl. 022 (RGB drive IC).

Problem; No picture.

Ceronix Monitors 1492;

Problem; Churping.
Solution; Resistor 292 (1.2 ohm) at 2+ ohms, changed it and monitor came up.

Problem; No blue on screen.
Solution; Repl. 83B

Problem; Picture faded out when heated up.
Solution; Repl. 065 (MPSA64 Xistor part of beam current limiter ckt.)

Problem; Horizontal pix over raster size, wouldn't adjust down.
Solution; Repl. 311 (1N4937 diode)

Problem; No video.
Solution; Repl. 421 (2200pF cap on neck board)

Problem; No picture.
Solution; Repl. 036 (XRC5346A RGB control IC)

Back in 1992 the casino I worked for in Las Vegas sponsered a Ceronix seminar put on by IGT, I'm going to attempt to copy the hand out that was given at the start of the seminar.  IGT's monitor specialist (Manny) did the presentation, especially useful is the last three pages (I hope they are not too worn to copy well).  I'll try to post three pages at a time so it won't be too overwhelming.

*NOTE* The flow chart refers to a 1492 monitor...some of my notes refer to a 1490 monitor as indicated by a "90" in the note.
