I recently bought a Sigma SG-300 Treasure Wheel. When playing credits or coins,  the message display occasionally displays "Lamp Comm Error"  for 3-4 seconds,  then the display returns to normal and the machine behaves normally again. So far, I've ignored this message as the symptom occurs only occasionally and vanishes so quickly. However recently the display has begun displaying "Coin in- Reversed" even when I'm playing with credits only. (IE. no coins being played).  My first thought was to verify the CPU battery. This battery looks like a nickel, and is a "CR2450" battery with 2 spot welded connections allowing it to be soldered onto the CPU board.  According to the "stamped on" specs on the battery, this is a 3.0 volt batter.  My voltmeter indicates that this battery is reading 2.7V with the machine turned off. I'd like to replace this battery.

Question: .....where can I buy this battery with these leads welded on? Or maybe a CR2450 in a battery holder with wire leads.

Any thoughts about the battery or the error messages?      ......Howard the RV Doctor

Thanks for the tip.   Acting on your suggestion, I ordered the Treasure Wheel battery from Mouser, plus a battery for my 4th of July slot and my Gamemaker 7000.  I may as well swap them all out while I'm tinkering.

Thanks again!   ....Howard  (The RV Doctor)

Hi Ken: That's a very generous offer.  Thank you!  Prior to your reply, another NLG member directed me to Mouser Electrionics where I ordered batteries for all 3 of my machines.  So I'm going to be OK, but thanks again for your offer of assistance.  It's reassuring to know that there are so many helpful folks on the NLG site.

Best regards,    ..............Howard Chadwick  (The RV Doctor)

Hi RV Doctor ,the battery will not fix your problem  Duh! .You can rip the battery off of the board and trash it( as long as you do not care about the date stamp on the machine). Not sure if you have the manual, but it checks the battery on the loading cycle (which you can turn the jumper ON to bypass it). Im running 12 -300's now and and five does not even have a battery. I have another five sitting in the garage with some of the problems you are saying...and a few others  hissy fit . On my treasure tunnel or treassure wheel I will get the lamp comm error during play. I was told that it was just the speed of the board... It would just flash for a sec and continue on with the game. As far as the "Coin in- Reversed" , have you found a pattern to when it does it?

So, for home use the battery should be removed and on switch 2 the dip no. 7 should be turned ON so the machine will not be looking for the condition of the battery. Thus, there will not be any down time caused by battery errors or leakage. Is all of this correct for SG88 boards?  What about other Sigmas?

Hi gordy, under the menu you set the date on the machine, also you can check how many 20's,10's ect that has been put in...along with other things that dont really matter for home use. This is what the batt. keeps if you lose power. So yes,the game will work fine without one. But you will have to change the DIP (with no credits on the game) then just turn the reset key. The only Sigma's I know for sure this works on is the SG-88 board which is used in the 150 and 300.
