I have a Bally S5500 machine and when I turn it on the bill Validator runs constantly. At first I thought it was the unit so I replaced it with a new one and the new one does the same. I've cleaned all the lenses and it's been upgraded to accept the new colored bills. The only way to get it to turn off is to put a bill in it and it will accept it half way and turn off. Won't register the bill or anything. I do get an error 24 message on my machine, but I think that is for either the optics board or coin comparator unit.

I figured out why it did this. I had to have the Cash Can and the bill compressor unit installed. Now it goes through it's cycle and stops. Hope this helps someone.
