I did that...and nothing happens IGT PE+ roms keep asking me for CHD´s or other stuff I don´t even know what they are....that´s why I was asking for help either on instructions or the compilation in order to have it...

With the .zip file of the ROM in the ROMS folder, go to the command line where your mame installation is and type:

mame [ROM_name]

For example, if you had the ROM peps0308.zip in your ROMS folder (Double Jackpot slot), type:

mame peps0308

If you encounter an error, please reply back here with the exact text of the error you are getting (saying, "keep asking me for CHD´s or other stuff I don´t even know what they are" really doesn't help us), and we'll be happy to try and help you.

There are also a number of video tutorials and other sites for MAME support -- click here for more information: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+use+mame

Of note, the PE+ ROMs are a little tougher to get started -- when you launch them, you'll likely just encounter a tan screen with a Call Attendant - CMOS error and no other information.  Press the letter "O" to open the door, then the letter "K" to press the Self Test button to get past that.

KNAGL thanks for your reply..
I will try that and let you know...In fact most of the roms I downloaded and that I tried to open keep asking me or telling me a rom is missing or a chd. will upload an image to show you...

I feel frustrated...because I see people have installed and run the ROMS in some nice looking frontends and even have built some cabs with success and I can´t even open them. That´s why I ask for help or for the thing already setup...I am not that familiar with MAME...would love to be, but I a feel kind of confused not understanding the correct procedure of installation of the stuff.

If even one checksum in the ROM file you have doesn't match what MAME is expecting, it won't let you open it through the menu.  Instead of launching the MAME menu as you have in your picture, please try as I suggested:

go to the command line where your mame installation is and type:

mame [ROM_name]

For example, if you had the ROM peps0308.zip in your ROMS folder (Double Jackpot slot), type:

mame peps0308

I noticed you were trying to launch the Keno ROM, so I'll assume you have that.  Go to a DOS command prompt (if you're using Windows, press the Start button, choose Run (if WinXP), and type CMD and press enter).

Then, in DOS, change to the directory where your MAME install is, then launch the game from the command line.  For an example, see the image below (click on it to enlarge it).

(Keep in mind that the Keno game is an odd one to manipulate in MAME.  You may want to start with a video poker game first to get more familiar with how the controls work.)

Also, this:

when you launch [a PE+ ROM], you'll likely just encounter a tan screen with a Call Attendant - CMOS error and no other information.  Press the letter "O" to open the door, then the letter "K" to press the Self Test button to get past that.

You may need to open the door and/or press the Self Test button again to get past some errors.  You'll need to close the door to insert coins.

Dear KNAGL....I have tried opening some of the roms that let me do so, without the CHD thing..I still have not tried to opne them with the procedure you advice me.

I want to get more familiar with how the controls work.

But I have noticed something...Inserting credits is quite slow...is there any way to speed that up..I mean if I want to put a coin acceptor on my cab, inserting credits will be very very slow...also... can I install a bill acceptor with this roms??? how can that be done? I ask this because the pulse is slow, and I wonder if with a pulse compatible bill acceptor I can speed things up...is there any other way of inserting credits in a faster way?? Also is there any way of changing the price payouts of the games or are they fixed?? what about percentage???

Yes, inserting credits is slow.  I do not know of any way to speed the process up.

Bill validator support was not (to the best of my knowledge) ever added to the PE+ MAME release, but you could still have a bill validator in your MAME cabinet and have it pulse the "5" key to insert coins.  If it pulses too fast, though, I think credits will get missed.

You can change the displayed denomination on many of the games within the self test menu (once the game is running, press "O" to open the door, and then use the "K" (self test) button to get to the screen where you can adjust the displayed denomination (press the key that corresponds to the Jackpot Reset switch (I don't know what it is off hand, but if you press the [Tab] key on your keyboard, a menu will pop up that can show you the available input keys))).

You cannot change the paytables or payback percentages for the PE+ games -- those values are coded into the ROM files and are not user-changable.  (Casinos would order different ROM programs from the manufacturer in order to change the payback percentage or paytable on a machine.)

sorry for my ignorance on this things but what is this for???

http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/FAQ:Games#Player.27s_Edge_Plus_.28Set038.29_Set_Chip

seems as a possible answer...and with a good mamehooker use. maybe some other stuff can be done, in order to leave this wonderful roms as the original machines were...or I am just speaking nonsense.

That is the SET chip that you would use in a real PE+ machine to enable the bill validator.  In MAME, it won't do much of anything since there is no MAME interface for a bill validator on a PE+ -- you could get a MAME machine to believe that the validator is enabled, but since there is no validator attached to the machine, it wouldn't do anything different.

This was an Bar Top Poker game (booooring...!) and I just used the case. I bought an tablet PC with touchscreen for $130 and some active speakers. 20 hours later I had a nice Mame cabinet, which can be carried around.
