Replica Mills Golden Nugget Jackpot Issue

I just bought a machine today and am having issues with the jackpot door staying closed. After pulling out the insides of the machine and searching Google I can kinda of see how this works. I push the jackpot door closed and there is a silver latch that holds the door closed. When I lift this bar the jackpot door opens. I have bent this a bit and the seems to stay closed for the most part. But that jackpot door still opens a small bit with small wins and even with no wins at times. It does closed back up with a pull of the wheel. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this? I have also did a manual cycle of the wheels.

sounds like he got a mills repo from 1960,s 70,s ,that many sell is a org  mills , most look like the real deal but they are made  rather cheaply , hope he didn't over pay
