It made me feel that much older  Duh! Duh! Duh! Duh!.  It also shows the generational gap in technology that kids nowadays have.

I went nuts and mowed grass everywhere all summer to save up $300.00....
I was determined to go into downtown Montreal and
buy a Kenwood portable cassette player (I hated Walkmans...lol)
I thought it was so cool to be one of the first to own one that had "Auto-Reverse"..... rotflmao

I think somewhere in a box up in the attic I may still have my original Sony Walkman.  I know I have a Discman.  I remember working a summer job to save up to get it.  Mine did not have auto-reverse.  I didn't have that feature on a casette deck until I got one for my stereo rack in the late 80's.

My favorite line from the article:

"I mistook the metal/normal switch on the Walkman for a genre-specific equaliser, but later I discovered that it was in fact used to switch between two different types of cassette."

I kind of liked the idea of random play on a cassette, then he just used the cue button holding it down for a for his random play.  rotflmao rotflmao rotflmao

I'm relieved that the majority of technological advancement happened before I was born, as I can't imagine having to use such basic equipment every day.

It's a funny thing, but the majority of technical advancement that we enjoy always seems to have happened before we were born when we're barely a decade old.
