HI...The machine you have there is a Japanese Pachislo Slot.  It plays different than American slot machines due to the fact that Gambling is Illegal in Japan.  So...How do they get around this?  First off,  the machine, as you well know,  plays with tokens only.  In Japan,  those tokens are traded for prizes much like a chucky Cheese here in the states.  Also,  the machine can only pay out a maximum of 15 tokens per reel alignment in a bonus round.  so,  if it can only pay so much during each spin,  they have what is called a bonus, and a big bonus pay out.  In the Bunus round,  you are given (usually) 8 spins.  during these spins, the slot will line up almost every time on three exact symbols.  usually they are the FREE play symbols.  each time giving 15 tokens.   After the Bonus,  the machine will retreat back to normal play.  Durring a Big Bonus,  the machine will give you about 20 or so spins.  If you line up three in a row (again,  the free play symbols), it will go into a bonus for 8 rounds, then back to big bonus mode.  The machines today will give you hints on what reels to stop during these modes in order to get a win.  These bonus modes inside a big bonus are also reffered to as "jacking in".

Trying to Eyeball the slots...during normal play,  it's almost impossible to try to stop on all the matching symbols.  the first two reels are pretty simple,  but the manufactures of the game programmed the third reel to always "slip" a symbol or two.  that is legal for them to do it and all the machines I have seen today are like that.  Your best chance to line up these symbols while eyeballing them are during the bonus modes.   After a bonus/big bonus,  you can expect to win 300 to 600 tokens...depending on how you played it.

If you are the only one in the house who plays it,  you will begin to see that the machine will win a bonus for you and it will be a lot of spins to get another one.  Basically,  you will begin to see a rough pattern on how the machine plays.   It's best to have as many different players use the machine, then when you aproach it,  you won't know what state it is in..."will it win on the next pull?  or not?

Blowing a breaker for those machines is rare.  They have inside them a 24 volt transformer and the game plays off that voltage.  However,  during a bonus, all the lights are flashing and the music is playing,  Your transformer may be having a tough time with all that.  The Amps may be low.  Typically,  when the machines come to the states,  the seller/importer will put in the cheapest transformer he can find.  all my machine (three of them) use a transformer that has an overheat circuit on them and run at 6 AMPS.   Also,  remember, just because you turned that machine off,  the transformer still gets power from the outlet.  I always unplug my machines when done playing with them.

This link will show how to reset the machine, and change the odds    http://www.stealthhomeamusement.com/repr.html

K+ Youngjedi for a great explanation of how the Pachislos behave.  applause applause

I can confirm that one cannot force the jackpot before the machine is set to give it. I have gotten very good at timing my stops and the last reel stopped will always slip past by design. These machines always go through a series of video scenes or other "clues" that stage the next jackpot. My model also gives video clues during some spins to indicate what I will win on that spin, and then those symbols are selected no matter when I press the buttons.

The only time that the skill comes into play is when all of the prerequisites have passed and the machine is set to hit the bonus round. Skill will then help get the bonus more quickly or make the difference between getting a regular bonus or a big bonus. On my model, changing the payout percentage affects how often the big bonus and regular bonuses appear. I also get slightly larger big bonus totals with the higher percentage. The changes don't seem to affect regular play.

I have noticed that there is still a bit of randomness as to how often the bonus is hit. I have gotten big bonuses almost back to back and have also gone far longer that I wanted without seeing one, so they're not completely controlled.

Just remember that these Pachislo machines are nothing like the Vegas machines we mostly deal with on NLG which, by law, have to be as random as feasibly possible. They are so different in the way they are programmed and the way that they play that comparing the two makes no sense.

The neat thing about American slots is that no matter  when the coin is placed into the machine,  the machine does not know what it did last.  It keeps no memory at all, and, it doesn't know what it is going to do next.  It's all based on the odds payout that is programmed into the machine.  Technically with this in mind,  the machine "could" hit the jackpot an indefinate amount of times.  Although,  the idea of that happenning is about a quadrillion to 1.  With the Japenese pachislos,  I believe there is a little "tightness" to the programming of the machine.  Remember,  Gambling is Illegal in Japan. Therefore,  to base the wins a machine will give truly to randomness will negate that law.  Even though Pachislos play the way they do,  I still enjoy them.  I own Three that I play regularly.

I agree. I enjoy playing mine as well. I have FireDrift, and I like the video movies that play during the various "missions". I also enjoy the music and anime sequences during the two parts of big bonus round. I play for those more than the coins themselves.
