S2000 MPU's with same problem

Got about forty S2000 machines. About five or six of the MPU's can't see the main door close. Was wondering if anyone has did board level repair and would have an idea of the problem or other areas to look on the module. Thanks for any help.

Is there a jumper at J 8 on the ones that have that problem? what is the last 3 of the part number on the white tag 502 or 504?

The last three digits are 502 and no jumper at J8. Hope this helps.

Had someone ask me the same question.  "machine does not see door closed but with MPU swap everything works". 
Has anyone else seen this problem and what location on the board is usually the culprit

I have had this exact same problem on 2 boards recently and yes both are 502's.  Error I get is telling me the cash can door is open.  Spent over an hour tracing wires, removing sensors, and creating hard connections at the cash can door sensor and belly glass door sensor.  I noticed on one of the boards that the green battery was leaking, or maybe I should say it had some white residue on it and some on the board around it.  I soldered on a new battery, did a clear and key, and the machine ran perfectly for 3 days with no errors.  I then turned the machine off, let it sit a week, and upon boot up I now get a "reel 3 error".  Well there is nothing wrong with the reel or the connection but just for kicks I swapped out reels and harness.....did a clear......same error.

After all that BS effort, I swapped out boards and machine has run for a month now with no issues with several on and offs.  After that I took the bad board and tried to make a basket from 20 feet away in my shop....fortunately I missed and got to watch it break into a few pieces off the concrete floor.

It seems possible that battery leakage could corrupt circuits on the board?  I wonder if the circuitry in and around the green battery is related to systems / netplex communication.

I think you might be on to something there Jim. Not what I wanted to hear .  Had a few boards that  looked real bad around the rechargeable battery and still worked.....lucky I guess.

My advice would be, if you do notice any corrosion around those batteries, is to take them off if these are back up boards in storage, or if they are in use, go ahead and change them out.  Those batteries are available at Mouser.

battery corrosion and powdery white substance, a 30/70 solution of
vinegar and water must be used to flush away the acidic stuff...
That powdery stuff gets under chip sockets and causes all kinds of malfunctions.
Then using a blow dryer, allow the board to completely dry out...
