Greetings,

I just picked up a PE+ Drop-In unit and can't get it to play.  The game turns on and shows cards on the monitor like it is ready to go...however, it also has the "Door Open" message displayed.  I've opened and closed the front door a few times and it looks like the optics line up.  I've also read that I might need to push the "White Test Button", but I can not find it.  Can someone please send me a pic or tell me exactly where it is located in a drop-in unit.

Thank you very much,

Cuervo5150@mac.com

Welcome to NLG!  I own two PE+ bartops and love them.

The self test button is located near the left hand wall of the inside of the game, right next to the silver power toggle switch.

If you can't get the door open message to go away, the self test button won't get the game started, however the self test input screen will help you troubleshoot it.

There are two sensors that detect a door open situation on the PE+ drop in; the main door optics (one on the silver door that opens up, and its mate that is fixed right by the key lock), and one on the belly door on the right hand side, which requires a reflector on the little metal piece that sticks out from the belly door.  (It's possible to bypass that optic, but if it's in place leave it for now to avoid complicating things.)

Has the belly door been latched in place when you've been trying to get the door open message to go away?

Thank you for the welcome and all the assistance!  Yes, that picture was worth a thousand words.  Good news is that I was able to get the door open message to go away. Now, after a few internal clicks near the coin slot I get a "Call Attendant" and a Coin-In Time Out message.  Help!

Start by pressing the white button, close door. Try again. If it still does this then it sounds like your harness has come off the coin comparitor (likely) or the coin optics (less likely but possible).

Are you sure that's a PE+?  Those graphics look more like a PE (non plus) or a Fortune II (unless those are really early graphics that I haven't seen before on a PE+).  Are you able to take a wider picture of the machine (showing all of the machine), plus one of the removable metal MPU circuit board (always turn the power off first before removing or inserting the board -- never insert or remove a circuit board with the power on)?  Thanks in advance.

Also, as Jay said, a few things can cause a coin-in timeout.  Make sure that the coin-in assembly is firmly and correctly seated with all of its wiring firmly attached, and make sure that there is nothing blocking the optics (big blobs of dirt or dust, or stuck coins can cause that error).

Once you've verified that stuff, close the door -- the game should attempt to reset itself, and either give you just a "closure" message (good), or again show the coin-in timeout.  If it still shows the coin-in timeout, can you please open the door, press the self test button once to get to the "Self Test Input" screen, and then take a picture of that screen to post here?  That can help with troubleshooting.

I talked to a couple of friends -- we're all in agreement that it's not a PE+, but not sure if it's a PE (non-plus) or a Fortune II.  Are you able to post a few more pictures of your machine, including the processor board?
