I installed a new SP1271 and now the game will not carry over credits, it pays out at every win.  How do I get the machine to not pay out at every win but to build up credits?

Thanks

Does the credit button light up when you press it before playing a spin?
If it does, then you have it set as "Player- Initiated Credit".
There are 3 options you can set this chip for .

If it does not light up, then the machine is set as "Non-Credit" and will pay all pays to the tray.
To set this for accumulating credits onto your display:
1) Open the door
2) Press the little white test button for 3 seconds.
3) Turn the reset key switchingly/briefly until you see a [5].
4) Press the "Spin" button until you get a <2> in the other window on the display.
That's the "Player-Initiated Noncredit {2} mode.
It will default to the credit mode if the machine is idle for 30 seconds.
5) Now, close the door and wait for the "Insert Coin" light to light up and play a few games.
Your wins will now be "banked" into the display "Credits"!

I seem to be alone in this opinion, but why not just set option 5 to 0 (5--0) and be done with it? That way, you can ignore the credit button because ALL wins will ALWAYS go to the meter. Simple. No waiting 30 seconds for the credit light to come on. No pressing it before play to be sure.

You can also set option 8 to 1 to force all bills to go to the meter (belt and braces, as they say).

Probably 5-1. I think that that is the default after first installing the chip or doing a clear.

Mark, I apologize if I came off a bit grumpy there -- I wasn't trying to get on your case. It's just that we as a group seem to have fallen into the habit of suggesting one of the manual options every time someone posts and says that they want the wins to automatically go to the meter. The automatic credit option 5-0 is really the right answer for these members.
