Fruit machine my tail feathers !!

« on: August 04, 2010, 02:24:37 PM »

Hi

I see that much of this has been covered back in September 2009 and is nicely saved in the archives.

I want to change my maximum payout on my "I dream of Jeannie" to read something cute instead of the "2500 coins". I am thinking of "3 WISHES". I downloaded the free Penguin TTF but it is totally black. The outlined one, where I could put the red inside the lines like is on the machine now is a very costly font ($44) and way, way too much for "cute".

Can you give me a quick tutorial on how to add the red color in the free Penguin TTF?

I would download a free program called "Paint.net"
You'll see that you can add the red inside if you desire.
What you print it onto will make a big difference when the light shines through from the back.
Too light of a shade of red will not look too good...
If possible, re-print them twice to get more ink onto the photo paper.
It will take few tries so the red ink does not overlap over the black or vice versa.

If you can, set your printer to print as slow as possible
wit the highest resolution using a lot of ink and you'll get it right the first time.

They should open read-only without a password.

I put on the password because one particular Microsoft fix allowed for auto-font substitution and even with Embedded fonts if the font was not on your machine then it would get subsituted out for something like Comic SansSerf.

The work around was to put on a password then do a save-as.

Jay

Thanks for the files. I had 'stolen' them before and they really look good.

I think I'll give Bunker's suggestion of Paint.net a try. I can see changing the letters to red in a paint program, getting the black outline on them is whre my brain fizzles out.

Maybe if I print them out and then hit the paper with a frying pan it might get a black ring around it. Heck it works for eyes doesn't it?  Smiley

Really ?? Thank you !

I was thinking "3 WISHES" or "YOUR WISH" depending on which one will fit better. Or something in that vein after all it is a Genie in the bottle type of game.

It is not worth too much work so please don't.

It's not too much trouble, I screw around with paintshop all night. Is this going in the long thin window above the reels that usually has the max payout?

Here is a word document with the IGT font embedded into it.

Hello!

I have downloaded this file before and it doesn't look right to me.  What is the name of the font that should be coming up in when you open the file?  I see the labels and the text is red in color - but it has never looked like the IGT font for me...

Make sure you install the font too. Here's how I do it. Download the zip... unzip it to the desktop.. open an explorer window... click start, my computer, C:, navigate to windows, then fonts... grab the unzipped ttf file off the desktop and drag it into the fonts folder, you should get then install progress window that way you know it's right. I've never been able to get any font to install just by simply unzipping it into the fonts folder.

No, up there in the pay table where it currently says "2,500 coins". What I think you are referring to is the " Over 400 coins paid by attendant" window. It is not that window, it is the jackpot payout on the pay table.

Then I guess I better hope it's someone I like who hits the jackpot.

WOW!!!! Great looking !!!! Thank you.

I like the very first one you made. It will look great on my machine.

I fiddled with Paint.NET this eve. Got the letters, converted them to outline, then used the eye dropper to change the inside to red pixel by pixel. Yours look 10 times better. I could never get enough width in the black outline. I was going to try it again tomorrow, but the ones you put up made me discard that idea.

Thank you again you are the greatest.
