I've been hearing lots about that Anti-virus 2009 lately. Sounds pretty bad.

Has it been affecting Vista or just XP machines?

My world is all XP Pro. So I can't comment on Vista. The kids have not been burned by it at home.

This particular PC has XP.
I've never heard of or come across this one before. Just know it refuses to die and won't let you do much.

Has "Antivirus 2009" affected the partitioning on the drive?
I was working on a friends computer that had "Antivirus 2009" on it, and found the drive had been repartitioned.
I was wondering if the "Antivirus 2009" did this or something else.

I was able to fix it after undoing the partitioning.

You can also try booting in safe mode and running malbytes programs

We get probably 3-4 calls a day with the AntiVirus 2009 issue.  We have had great luck running Malwarebytes in Safemode.  Make sure and give it a try.  We use "Safemode with Networking" so we can preform an update to Malwarebytes before the scan.  And I would suggest running the scan multiple times.  Seems it finds more stuff after the first pass completes and re-boots.

Jumping late in here....

When situation becomes extreme and the virus or malware can't be removed by normal procedures I use to run a file called Combofix.exe

This little program restore the Windows XP PC or laptop to it's "nearly" factory status.  From register to system files, everything is restored to original configuration and mostly all problems can be fixed by running this little program.  I have done it several times in both of my laptops (toshiba and Compaq) and i had good results and no issues so far.

Note I said "most of the problems can be fixed" because the program go very deep in system for cleaning, and sometimes when the virus is installed too deep the program deletes it but the results are catastrophic for the computer or hard drive.

Note also the program is free and has to be up to date to run properly (download before you run it)
