Anyone care to explain what kind of sound control is available on an S+?

Magicslots,
If there's a blue knob on top of the MPU tray, that's your volume knob and it would mean that your MPU board is a 10MHz board.
The 16MHz MPU boards don't have the little "Magic" blue knob....

(I say "Magic" because some guy actually called it that stating on camera that it was the knob that slot techs use to change the percentages on a machine....lol)

(Edited to fix the quote.)

There is a volume knob on the board, so its a 10MHZ board, what are the advantages of a 16MHZ board?

With a couple of the games: Bulls Eye, 4th of July etc...
You have the option of about 7 different sets of reel music. These songs are not available in the type 0 or type 5 games (nudge).
These tunes are available with the 731 chip, but not its replacement the 1271.

The 1271 dumped the reel music in favor of more detailed accounting features, It also moved any of the progressive functions out of the menus and you need the set90 chip to program them. I personally would have stayed with the 731 but I came across a limitation with the progressive that required the new chip.

My setup is that each of my slots have a LINKED progressive as their top award and I have the IGT behind the payglass (standalone progressive) as the secondary reward on each slot.
This combo is not supported under the 731. You can have LINK:LINK, IGT:LINK, IGT:IGT but not LINK:IGT, I had to go the 1271 to get this.

The 731 with the set026 can do a nickle denomination but you need a 1271 to do the penny denomination.
Hopper limits and credit limits are the same thing and controlled by dip switches on a 731, they are separate and controlled through software on a 1271.
In fact the 1271 ignores dipswitches all together.

Neither of these chips work with the 16mhz boards. Subsequently no special reel music. The 16mhz boards have no dipswitches and no manual volume control. This is all controlled by the self test menus. The main benefit of the 16mhz board is that it counts credits way faster than the 10mhz board. The down side is that there is an annoying hum that gets induced from the power source. This might not be an issue in a casino but its right annoying at home. I have one of these boards and for the most part it sits in a drawer.

Excellent answer Jay applause

I often wondered which chip does what and the differences as I am constantly playing with this stuff.
There's an amazing amount of different options to choose from. arrow
I didn't know about the LINK:IGT needing the SP1271....you learn something new everyday. yes
no wonder it didn't work on my older chips.... Duh!

Some of the tokenized SP chips also support attract music which play a different tune every xx seconds with 0 credits on the machine. The music played are the repin music from spin till you win, 4th of july, etc.

Wow! You've been looking for that for a long time. The good news is that I have come across a copy since you last asked.

Enjoy.

One way to make sure what SP and SS chip you have is to open the door and
hit the little white test button until a "4" shows up in the "coins played" window on your display.
There will be 2 sets of numbers alternating...
one is the SS chip number and the other is your SP chip number.
I've a feeling your SP chip may be incorrectly marked on the chip itself?

By the way: your SS 4133 chip fits Super Joker, Wild Cherry, Sevens Seas, and Cartoon Wild Cherry as well.
It's an 87%  3coin multiplier reel chip.

Am i right in thinking that when you have a 4 showing that is where you check the paytable as well.

The SP chip still has the original IGT label on it or at least i think it's original. I have sorted the problem anyway now i have change the SP to a 1003 took some doing though the 142 was on a 256k i didn't know that you couldn't change the chip size without moving the jumper just above it but it's all up and running now.

I would still like to know how to choose what set chip to use.

It all depends on which reel chip (SS) you're using...take a look at this>>

http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/gametypes.htm

The SP chips as well are "Type" specific...most common ones is a Type "0".
Haywires are Type "2" SP chips...and so on...you'll see as you read more about game types... yes

Very nice, I like it.  K+
Can you make it so it doesn't max out at 100 hits, or have the option to do more?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks,
Wayne

VERY cool jstraa.  Cool Thumbs-Up Cool Thumbs-Up  K+ applause applause

I would suggest adding the options of  >   >=   =   <=   < to your "Return Percentage" search, and I second the idea of allowing more than 100 items - perhaps by paging them.

I can see that you put a lot of time into getting all of that data set up. Hail Hail Hail
