What I did today was try to show you guys how
to remove male pins from Molexes.
What I didn't get into is removing receptor pins...
They are not too much more difficult.
The tools are again different.

There's not a whole lot of room on the sides to the receptor pins
to push the tabs back in to the centers.
If you try to use a modeler's screwdriver, it will just ruin the pin and the molex as well.

Receptor pins that are round require the exact sized metal tube or AMP tool.
Receptor pins that are Square or Rectangle  are even harder to remove but I
can show you basically what I found that works without too much trouble.

Here's a simple clothing material pin...
I used a flat tipped metal pliers to carefully put a 25-30 degree bend
about 3/16th of an inch from the tip.>>>

Here's a 6-pin Molex with the square-ish receptor pins.
Looks like there's 4 left in this one...I must of borrowed a couple!  
As you can see, there's no way I can push in a
jeweler's screwdriver without crushing the walls in.
There's is where the hard metal of the clothing pin comes in handy!>>>

When the Molex is veiwed from the side, the walls are so thin
of the Molex that you can almost see
the receptor tabs on the side of the pin!
It's like we have x-ray vision!  
Those are the tabs we want to squeeze in towards the center...

The second pic is me inserting the bent pin into the Molex next to the pin tab.>>>

Keep turning the bent pin in the area of the tab on both sides of the pin in the Molex.
It takes a few tries to get it but it works every time!
After you think you are satisfied that you maybe pushed the tabs inwards
good enough to clear the lip of the hole, start pushing the head of
the pin with a small screwdriver or give the wires (if any) a little tug.
If you've pushed the tabs in far enough, the receptor pin should come right out!

We can either fix that or throw it away...
I prefer to replace it with a brand new one from mouser!>>>

Lets see what you use on a Molex Micro-Fit 3.0
They are about 60% the size of the Micro-Fit Jr

Gives me an idea for the female connectors use the brass tube, squeeze it flat on 2 sides and then trim off flared out sides.

You're stuck with them for pretty much all eternity!

By the way,
I tried using aluminum tubes as well...They bend far too easily and are too thick.
Just not as strong as the brass tubes.
Still, brass tubes are still a bit of thick walled and I'm forced to resort sometimes,
to the small hardened jeweler's screwdriver.
The expensive AMP tools use a hardened,  but thin steel.
(Probably some form of carbon steel)
They are thin enough yet strong enough to push the tabs inwards.
I haven't found anything better than a clothing pin yet - to remove receptor pins.

Spring steel or the steel they use for C, E or other clips like the clips on the IGT reel shafts.

I have removed the female connectors by using screw driver with a little help with a hammer to push the connector out. I have not tried it on the male pins.

I went to sears saturday night to buy my 3rd monster tool box

first one is the snap--on you need a ramp truck to move it without tools

second is my old MAC  cabinet same thing !!

then i got a couple of those 120.00 buck wally world -wallmart ! top bottom chest to fill up with electrical stuff for slots

then after the trip to sears lol they had a typical homeowners top bottom box for sale for 149.99

left there spending 217.99 including 10.00 bucks of vaccumm bags so the box i made up was a nice bottom mid section & top total 11 drawers
all on sale for 200.00 bucks & some change & of course tax.

still happy its not snap on quality but does the job . plus i get to keep it in living room lol
