I've got a 25K7191 monitor which has vertical position issues... I've capped it... and am about to change out Q9... The resistors around that transistor appear to be fine...

There's about a 2" gap on the bottom of the screen that I can't make go away.

Any other ideas?

You are not really clear if Vertical Position works or not.  But I think I have seen what you are describing.

A common issue on the older Wells 7000 series is that little 50/60Hz pot just behind Horizontal Hold.  It will allow you to adjust the vertical in a few different ways.  It seems as the monitors aged, it works to "fix" the vertical foldback which appears at the top or bottom of the tube.  It also works as a Vertical Linearity control.  Adjust it for no foldback and so the distance between the raster lines are equal at the top and bottom of the screen (Vert Linearity).

Well, it seems R83 is missing... and VR3 is a whopping 200 ohms...

The chassis says K7191, but it doesn't have the external video controls and more resembles the K7000 schematic...

I put the 10k one in and now I have no video... I need to swap it back... or take the board all the way out & try to undo the mods that someone put in place. It seems like they cut some resistors out and tack soldered one on the backside of the board.

This chassis also has some kind of external block connected to the HV lead. Not sure what it is and I can't find it referenced in any of the schematics.

The problem I had was that the video could not be centered vertically on the screen.

That expoxy block is actually a High Voltage Capacitor used to maintain high voltage on a Screen when it goes all white (like on a gun game which flashes the whole picture White).

Not to insult you, but are you using the right polarity Sync?  The sync on the 6 pin connector is positive, the 3 pin connector, negative.  Most Jamma boards put out composite Negative which should go to the last pin of the 10 on the 3 pin.  Some monitors will sync to the wrong polarity but you will have your screen way off from adjustable zones.

I don't have a schematic here at home to look up your listed components.  Will have to wait until Monday.
