I do not have one nor do I want one.  I have studied the pictures and agree,  You can see the hinge then see where it would bolt/mount to the frame in question so I am with the cowboy here.  They made diff. versions of this platform as well.   Frankenstein .  B.

I haven't seen the drawings of the center mounted LCD screen -
although I agree that this center-mount exists.
Should anyone have this documentation, please send a copy of it to me and I'll try to ask and see
that it gets put into the uploads section for all of us to share.  propeller

I'd imagine that the bracket for the center mount is somewhat different in that it would need
some sort of "right-side bracket" in which the LCD screen hooks into onto the slot on the hinges.

I'm pretty sure that even the center mounted LCD screen -
would have the ability to swing out as well... yes

Stout, You would be correct in your assumptions.  Most people do not need the parts you request and look for as they are redially available 24/7 in complete machines for PENNIES on the  money.  They are good games but really not that pricey in my opinion.  If you want to build one from junk and hand-outs then please document it.  It will help others in the future -------  Scratch Head.  B.

That's  OK Bunker  Anyone can go out and buy a machine !!  Build it yourself and be proud of it. And if nothing else at least you can admit that's it's yours and not belong to someone else

What was that song from long ago, before my time, about a guy that takes car parts, one at a time, and then has a car from all different years. Seriously, if a person is on a budget, and can't afford a whole machine at one time, it is an excellent idea. Just get the parts, one by one, and then build it if time is not an issue. Just remember that in the long run, it might cost more than if you had bought the machine outright in the first place. But an excellent option for others. Especially tinkerers like Stout, and others.

Anyways,
It looks like I'm losing something after the initialization.... bawling
Here's a short clip of the boot up sequence in action on the LCD screen>>>

because there's no card in the side PCMCIA slot.
I think I need this card... Scratch Head 3

The card doesn't stay in the side. It goes in to do the upgrade, then it is removed after the upgrade is complete.

Have you tried openning the door, turning the jackpot key when you get that message and then push the white test button?

Ron (r273)

I have not r273.
I have only either turned the reset key or pressed the test button
but not both at the same time nor both actions in sequence.
I will try this when I get home later to see if anything changes.

The first few times I opened the door however, and turned the key,
it seemed to me that the machine's VFD would go back into a verify mode
with the message "MSVerify:Verifying"...after about 30 seconds or so,
the message would pop up on the VFD saying>>> "MSVerify: COMM Error".
The error on the LCD screen would not change at all.
The LCD message of "Unrecoverable error" would remain there.

After quite some time though ( maybe 2 or 3 minutes) , the VFD display
would revert to the "MSVerify" mode.
But it would go into the "COMM  Error" message again after a few minutes and
keep repeating this sequence without any input from me.

I read in an earlier post from Dorothy's conversion,
that mentioned Blueridge as saying that the LCD
computer and the machine itself are 2 separate things.
With this in mind - I don't know how much weight I should put into the messages that
come up on the VFD display - rather than the LCD screen display?

From what I understand....
When someone puts in an RFA card on the side to boot up the LCD,
Then removes the RFA card after the time and date message...
then the bonus screen pops up on the LCD?
I don't get a Time&Date message because I don't have an RFA card.
My question is: Does the LCD screen sequence look like mine?

What is supposed to show up after the LCD screen is in "Initializing...Please Wait" mode?
The video of the top PCMCIA card contents? A show?

If you are getting a "MSVerify: COMM Error" then your cable that connects the LCD to the machine is not correct.  This cable is typically 3 gray wires that connects to the comm port in the left side of the top box.  Check that cable.

Also, the date and time prompt only comes up when the upgrade process is complete, as the upgrade process clears the date and time from the computer inside the lcd computer. It will not come up at any other time.

Thanks guys... Hail applause
I greatly appreciate your input on this for me and future Vision owners... yes

I was following the pinouts on my copy of a drawing
where the 6-pin Molex on the LCD computer has :

1-Not Used
2-Gray/Black
3-Gray/Brown
4-Gray/Yellow
5-Not Used
6-Not Used

and the 3-pin Molex on the topbox floor connector plate
towards the left back of the box is:

1-Gray/Black
2-Gray/Brown
3-Gray/Yellow

The drawings I used, I think is from a Vision S/T...
It's all I had to go by.
Could this be the culprit guys?
If you get a chance, could you verify sometime from your machine or proper upright Vision
wiring schematics, if I made the right pin-outs for this harness?

I will open the LCD computer cover and verify later this evening if the wires are physically
color matching the gray wires inside of the LCD computer MPU board.
I'm fairly certain the 3 wires at the other end are correct because
I followed the colors of the connecting 3-pin Molex.

I have just taken the cover off of the LCD computer and traced the wiring.
Apparently, all looks fine as all the wiring is color-matched into the correct Molex pin locations.
So I plugged everything back in and voila!  Jumping for Joey
I saw, for the briefest of mini-seconds as the LCD was into it's "Boot up" mode,  a couple of lines... Sherlock Smiley
I cannot, for the life of me remember the exact words, but I am positive that I saw
2 lines (As they were scrolling extremely fast) that read: Incorrect Media" or "Wrong Media"... Dancing Party

I'm believing now that my CF flash card (in the PCMCIA adapter ) has too large of a volume.
I cannot fathom that this ancient computer board can handle a
4GB CF flash card I have in the PCMCIA adapter.

Am I on the right track?
I have a 20mb PCMCIA SanDisk Flashdisk in front of me as I'm posting this thread and
am waiting for my 10 year old laptop to recharge it's battery cells. lol
I'm lucky that my $75 Acer TravelMate 660 still has a PCMCIA slot on the side!  Thank You! WOOT! Cheer Leader

Hummm........too large? It's a possiblity. It's probably like a 386 or 486 processor in that box. It only has to perform a few functions so not a lot of computing power needed.
