Belly door release knob will be right near the main door latch, pull it to let the belly door drop, but don't just let it drop. The switch is a pish typecherry switch and will be in the upper left corner of the opening. If it's the problem you can bypass it by tying the two wires together

Check all other door switches. Your cash box will have a micro switch on it's door also. Is this an upright machine or slant top?

Is there an error code displayed in the display? Or just tell us WHAT is showing in the displays. To be honest, we've never even looked at a candle when working on a machine. I know some do, but there's not really a need to. If there's no error in the display, does Insert Coin light up? if so, drop a coin in it!

I'm with Roz. Likely the only thing the candle is telling you is that the main door had been open. It will likely stop flashing after one paid game is completed.

Also, please don't use your RAM clear chip ("reset chip") anymore unless someone here specifically suggests its use. It is not a "fix everything" chip.

this is a up right type.there is no cash box.there are no codes showing.the coin insert light is lit and when i drop a coin in it goes in the hopper, but no credits are giving.if i hit the little white switch on the coin conparitor game will credit and play with door open, but if credit are there and door is closed credits are lost.

Close door, wait for,Insert Coin lights up, drop a coin, and pull the handle or hit Sin Reels. Your display could just be out.

Under normal circumstances, if the machine accepts a coin into the hopper, there are no issues. (Yah, someone could have shimmed the coin comparitor to accept all coins, but we will get to that later if we have to.)

By the way, just to clarify, you said game has no validator and no cash box. Are these items missing or is it a coin in/coin out machine?

If inserted coins are being accepted to the hopper but you're not getting credit, chances are very good that you need to replace your coin-in optics assembly.  I would start there.

(If the machine was in a tilt/error condition, the coin comparator would reject all coins to the tray, rather than permitting them to pass through the coin-in optics and go in to the hopper.)

If you can post the SP chip that is in your machine, we can point you to the PSR for it and how to get to the coin-in optics test.  With that, you can test your current optics to see if they're good or faulty:

http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm

Also, one other remote possibility is that your coin-in optics have the wrong size guide for the coins falling through.  If you have a large size encoder with small (quarter or smaller) coins, it's possible that coins can be accepted without ever tripping the optics.  Typically, though, this would result in an error code as one or more of the optics would tend to get triggered out of sequence.

Let's start with your SP chip number, and we can test from there.

The chip in the GAME EPROM socket is the SP731.
The SP731 is sort of like your operating system chip akin to Vista, XP, etc.etc.

The chip in the socket location next to that one is the REEL EPROM SS6284 chip.
This chip controls the reel stops for the reel strips and payouts.

To check the coin-in optics, I open the door, power up the machine, press the Test button 3 times or
until I see [10-1] in the Winner Paid window on the reel glass display.

Then I turn the Reset key once to get the display to change in the Winner Paid window to a [11-1].
I then remove the coin comparator and rest it on the door on the very bottom with the CC harness still connected to it.

With a piece of plastic credit card about 4 inches long and about a 1/2" wide,
I stick it in between the slot between the sandwiched coin-in optics boards and
wiggle it back and forth to see if the Winner Paid number changes from a [11-1] to an [11-0].
You can use a popsicle stick if you have one!

After that, I turn the Reset key once more to change the Winner Paid display to [12-1].
This time I push the plastic credit stick in and out, instead of wiggling it side to side,
while watching the Winner Paid display to change from a [12-1] to a [12-0].

If you can get the 1's to change to zero's, then you know the coin-in ABC optics are functional.  propeller

Ok, well, at least that is eliminated.

Give us some good pics of your coin comparitor (front and back), so we can see if anything looks abnormal. Also, try dropping 10 quarters through and see if you get an error code. This will validate or eliminate the wrong size guide issue that knagl mentioned earlier.

Even though we expected you to get errors if your guide was a $1 size (and you are using quarters), I do see the "$" written on the housing bracket of your comparitor.  Scratch Head  This indicates, that at least at one point, the comparitor was for a $1, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been converted over to quarters. Lets see what some others think, and I'll see of my husband has time to take a look and see if anything obvious is going on that might be causing your headache.

That 2'' by 4'' circuit board is for the SAS communications between the machine and the casino backroom.
It's not needed right now plus you've already used a Clear chip and wiped out any machine programming related to it.

As far as I can tell, the decoder guide for your quarter-size coins is intact.
I can see the top of it at the end of my red arrow and this molded plastic forces
your coins to fall in a path directly between the coin-in optics.

Also, the CC is operational as it allows the coins dropped to fall in between the coin-in optic sandwich,
instead of being forced back into the coin tray.

That leaves us with two possible problems that need to be checked.

The easy one:
You can see I've drawn another red arrow pointing to the "Service Coin" momentary switch button.
This button allows you to add credits to you machine up to the Reel chip's MAX credits.
Since you have a 2 coin Triple Diamond Deluxe, go ahead and open the door
and press the Service Coin button a couple of times.
It should add 2 credits to the game at the "Credits Played" or "Coins Played" display on the reel glass panel.
Press the "Play" button and the game should play off the credits you've added.

Good, that means the coin-in optics are somewhat functional, but does not send "Live" credits back to the MPU.
For some reason, your coin-in optics are not sending "seen" credits back to the MPU when the door is closed.
I suspect this is why...>>>

The hard one:
You said that you used a Clear chip in one of the first posts in this thread.
What you did was wipe out everything - including the game's denomination setting.
It no longer knows what denomination it should be.
It doesn't know if it's a nickel, quarter, or dollar game anymore.

You'll need a SET015 chip to change this.

You can try one more thing before that though...
Swap the coin mech bracket and harness from another machine to this one.
I'm still suspecting a possibly faulty coin-in optic board component that is refusing
to send accepted coin signals back to the MPU to be displayed during "live" game play with the door closed.
Simple job, remove the CC, remove the 2 phillips screws hold the bracket to the door, swap coin units
and reattach harness and CC.
Try some coins to rule out the coin-in optics being the problem.
Let us know in good detail how you make out!
Remember, the more you can tell us -  the better we can help you!

lets stop and go back and check the optics again. I believe we missed testing the most important one of the three involved.  that's test 10_1,  this is the optic that will not change  when the transistor Q-2 or Q-4  is defective.   it will stay in the "1" state and give you the results you are having.

I believe the optics is your problem.

Hope this helps

read BUNKERS reply #15.   when you get to the test 10_1, perform the same test as you did for 11_1,and 12_1.    10_1 tests the A optic, 11_1 tests the B optic and small white test button, and 12_1 tests the C optic.

Hope this helps
