I've got nothing.  The PSR is very vague, simply saying that you can test the music and set the attract mode music in that test, but doesn't say how.  Perhaps it was buggy and didn't actually work, or perhaps it only works if you're running a type 5 game?  What game are you running with that SP chip?

Running 5XPay Deluxe....I too am reaching an impasse Scratch Head  I think I have tried about all the button combos I can come up with, loser
Or maybe I still missed just the 1 magic button.  It cycles through the music every time. When I go back to it, the setting is still there, but the DA__
music just wont play bawling

I think I've been misunderstanding -- I thought you were saying that it wouldn't play the particular song you wanted it to -- you're saying that it won't play anything at all when it's idle?

You do have zero credits on the machine, right?

That's correct, it wont play during idle cycle. It plays the tunes when you cycle through them in the test mode.
Zero credits on the machine for trying to set the song and zero during idle. hissy fit

Not to be captain obvious but is your idle time set low enough and you're letting it idle long enough to play the music?

Brianz: Is ther a way to set the idle time?  I have been letting it sit idle for 20 to 30 minutes between attempts.

Is their a way to set the jurisdiction?

Maybe it's set for NJ since NJ doesn't allow for attract modes on machines.
Or so I'm told. Scratch Head

Just a thought.

According to the PSR......

Quote
This page is displayed only if the game is Type 4, Type 5, or Type 12. Activates songs and allows selection of the song to be played during the idle mode.

But I remember trying all those game types with the 731 and I couldn't get the music to work either, I had to get an 1137 to get it going. I seem to recall it plays every 5 minutes

I agree, I read the PSR, and even read through the S+ manual for setup etc, and cant find anything that says how to "lock" the choice of song so it will play.
Seems like since I can cycle through the tunes I should be able to make it work but... loser

Tried that, and it changes the song(no ding like you mentioned) just like turning the key.
Are there any other SP's that support the music option?

Have you tried changing the song value and then pressing the test button until you completely exit the test/setup menu before closing the door? Make sure that there are no credits on the machine before entering setup mode.

Ahhh, yes. The famous Reply/Scene #24. How could I have missed it?! Duh!  frying pan  It's the scene with the old man! Crazy

Okay, I couldn't find scene 24, but here is the Bridge of Death, which references scene 24 and is more funny anyway. Tongue Out
By the way, for those who may have to cross the bridge, the Capital of Assyria was Nineveh. arrow

I gotta tell you guys this!!

I installed both an SP731 and a SS8264 chip onto a 10MHz MPU board
and went into the options.
I set 60-0 to like 61-1...the first available "Attract Song" in the tests.
Closed the door and had a smoke...no attract music played at all...
read some more posts and waited ...nuthing...nada...
I had an idea... stir the pot / get cooking
I removed the chips and installed them onto a 16MHz MPU board...
I couldn't even get to the settings because of error code "42".
Reels didn't want to behave...
so, I threw in a clear chip and re-installed the chips but still got the error code "42".
Tried a different 16MHz MPU board, same problem but error code "41" or "43".

I started thinking some more.... stir the pot / get cooking
I pulled the chips out of the 16MHz MPU board and
installed the SS8264 with an SP1137 onto a 10MHz MPU board.

I was able to get into the settings so I programmed it to
play the first attract song 61-1 and closed the and had a smoke.

I looked at my watch...15 bloody seconds later the "Attract" music starts playing!

I laughed...not only that ..the bloody thing keeps playing every 15 seconds...ARGHHH! irritating really...
but it works!... yes I wish it would play the other songs too because one song over and over and over....... :30-IGT

Briannz was totally right and so was I for telling you to go out and go out buy a bloody SP1137!!!!!   Tongue Out
I'm nearly totally convinced that there was a bug in the SP731 chip...as was he...
'cause no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to play the "Attract" music either....

:79-Sorry to be such a pain in the ass guys, but I really hate being defeated by such a silly thing. knockout
Thanks for all the help and input applause
I give in arrow I will go ahead and buy me  a SP1137.  So to get ahead of the game this time, where can I find a PSR for the 1137?
And which one of our Illustrious dealers here are likely to have the chip?
By the way, is there a way to set the wait/play time on the 1137? or do I have to wait untill I can get me a S2000? yummy

Hello!

That's one thing I actually don't like about the S2000 - is has the attract and you can set when it goes off,  but it will only play the one time.  I wish you could have it repeat every 10, 20, 30, etc...minutes.

It's like IGT forgot to add a "clock" to the chip to time the Attract sound mode intervals.... frying pan

Today, I realized that there's absolutely no way I
can get a SP731 to go into attract mode and play songs...
test mode yeah, but not when the machine is in "idle".

Doesn't matter, after less than a half hour of
hearing the same blasted tune play over and over...
I pulled the chips out and threw back in my old Bonus Sizzling 7's chips.... Tongue Out
( It's "Attract" mode is just the Bonus lights flashing across the top of the award glass - I can deal with that!)

God, the 731 attract music was driving me nuts... arrow

That doesn't make any da__ sense!  I thought the S2000's were supposed to be this exponential leap beyond the S+, with all their program-ability etc.  hissy fit
I'm still gonna get me one when I figure out how to come up with the room for it. It seems the very idea of attract music is to grab the public's attention once in a while propeller

Oops! Forgot to ask....Will a Set026 work for this chip, or will I need a set 90? Single machine no progressive.  At least not yet. Heh, heh
