I am having some issues with the RS232 board I build so to eliminate MPU as the cause I swapped MPU's
Machine has a 10MHz with 1274 and Double Jackpot Haywire has over 130 credits
When I swapped in a 16Mhz board with 1309 and Suger Spice SS chip once I cleared the 61 and 61-1 tilts it came up with 60-70 credits on it.
Playied it a bit and tried to figure out why the RS232 board is not working.
put the 10Mhz with DJH back in and cleared the 61 and 61-1 tilts the 130+ credits came back up.
I have never had something like that happen before usually when I swap boards the credits go to the irretrievable bit bucket.

Perhaps the two game chips store the credits on different parts of the EEPROM.

I had posted in this thread how I put the EEPROM on the MPU. During that process, I cleared the EEPROM and then set up everything 'clean' for a game. Then I made a backup copy of the EEPROM so if I wanted all of the stored meters reset, I could just load the data back on and it would have everything set already (i.e. BV enabled and other settings). Anyway, I had planned on trying to see just where things were stored (like the credits), but I never really got around to it. But up until now I thought they were all stored in 'standard' locations. I may have to compare the data from different SP chips.
