As I stated in my last post, I replaced the lights with #658 Miniature bulbs (14 Volts/.08 Amp).

Last weekend, I let the topper stay on for about two hours, and one by one each of the light bulbs burnt out?

The transformer reads 241-6-28 with output voltage 28 VAC @ 1.1A.

Do I need high amp bulbs? or can anyone give me ideas on what to look for??

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.   Help

That is really funny. I was bidding on this with you but It seemed like you really wanted it so I let it go. HA HA What a coincidence!  I did notice that the arrow did not light but figured I could get it to work. I see a transformer in there that is probably what will power those leds. Check to see how much power it is giving and work from there. Is there any control board hooked to the lights behind the arrow?

I just noticed those are bulbs not LEDS. Trace the wires from the lights out. It seems like a lot of wires are loose and not hooked up. This is probably because this was a low voltage set up that he turned into 120V Plug and play. I can't really help too much without a better look.

Please do not place duplicate posts on multiple boards. Our regular members generally read all posts, regardless of where they are placed, and if members begin helping on both threads it becomes difficult to keep track of the troubleshooting process.

If you are unsure where to place the post, just use your best judgment, and a moderator or admin will move the thread to the appropriate board if necessary.

I gave you and morspeed a K+, and I hope you get your topper working.  propeller

Thanks,

It appears to me that the brown and red wires went to
some bulbs or LED board that surrounded the edges of the topper?
When you power on the topper, stick a multimeter on
those two wires and see what's coming out of them.

Sb...If you look close at the black box (low voltage controller) The two wires seem to be theinput  for it, and it controlls the arrow lights.

It shows 12-24 vdc or ac but my question is, would that be theinput  voltage, would get other ideas first.  Maybe a web search on the controller will help us, Don't need any holiday smoke.

SB    the more I look at it you are correct, didn't pay attention to the transformer in the pic.     Looks like it did have chaser lights at one time

Sorry that the low voltage controller photo is fuzzy.

The info reads:  Model: Chase 004D, Voltage: 12 to 24 VAC or DC, Current 3.2A Max.
                       Tech 22, Carlsbad, California

The red light on it is not lite...no power.

Idea: I have a Sony ac power adaptor which reads: Output: DC12V  80mA... could that be used to connect to the two wires and power the controller?

As SB stated, they look to be output power wires for chaser lights that are no longer there. Looking at the chrome cover you can see the holes for the LEDs

Looks like power for the controller and arrow lights come from the small metal transformer in the pics.

The transformer looks to be marked for 24 vac and one leg going to the lights and the other for the controller.

Do you have power coming off the transformer? What bulb numbers do you have

The outside of the topper has chaser lights which someone connected directly to a 110 wall plug.

The fluorescent light also is powered this way...only the arrow is not working...

Does anyone know if I can use a Sony ac power adaptor (to connect to the two wires) which reads: Output: DC12V  80mA. to power just the low voltage controller and get the lights to work????????????????????????..

Not if the lights require DC current...
