Game change proceedure - Vision

I am anticipating the delivery of a different glass kit for my S2000 Vision this weekend. I've never done a hame change before and so am obviously nervous.

The Vision has a PCMCIA card in the back of the LCD screen that needs to be replaced. Is this just a matter of pulling up on the card to remove it, or does the lever have something to do with releasing it? (See photo)

After I remove and replace the chips on the main circuit board and the PCMCIA card do I just cross my fingers and press the power switch or are there more arcane voodoo magic steps that need to be done? I do have a KEY17 and KEY97 chip.

You push down on the card at the top and it should pop up about 1/4". Of course you change the glass and strips too.

Have not change my game so I would assume you need to follow the instructions that come up on the screen. Maybe
someone will enlighten us on the procedure.

<edit> Bettor Slots is right, it is the little black button by the card. Damn CRS.

Actually I think you want to push down on the little black button just to the side of the card rather than the card itself.  This will pop the card out.  Nothing else to do here....just put the new card in and make sure it is fully seated.

At a minimum, after you change out your SB, SG 1 and 2, and Version chips, you are going to need to do a Key 17 procedure to set up the game.  You may need to do a full clear with a 97 chip.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not so sure but I think I may have posted this question a little early. I got the following today from DHL wondering exactly where in the mix my package was ......

The parcel left Germany on 2010.08.23 going to South Africa.
General running time for your parcel is 10-12 business days.

Only problem with that is that I live in the U.S.A. not S.A.

You experienced slot owners do KEY17 things before coffee in the morning. I've only heard about it, I have searched NLG and was unable to find exactly how to do this. Can someone please explain the process for me? Remember to type R-E-A-L slow so I can follow it.

I put the replacement chips in the circuit board. Reinsert the board and turn the machine on. Then turn it off and replace the version chip (?) or base chip (?) with the KEY17 chip and then reinsert the board and turn on the machine .... then what ?

Yes that helps quite a bit. After number 8 what settings do I need to change on the key menu?

Here's the steps that I have at the moment:

Remove circuit board
Replace the base chip with the key chip.
Insert circuit board.
Look for 2 amber lights. If 2 amber lights ..
Remove circuit board
Replace key chip with base chip.
Insert circuit board

... Key chip menu comes up ... then ????????????????

Key chip menu should show up on your touchscreen. Go through all the options and set them to your preferences. You should be able set the denomination(s), set limits, enable your hopper and ticket printer etc.

I am changing a Vision from Double Diamond Bonus Wheel to Ms. Little Green Men

I replaced the game chips and the base chip with the new chips.

Inserted the board back and turned it on. The first picture below is the lights on the board. the VFD said call attendant. The LCD said ERROR - SOME REQUIRED COMPONENTS NOT FOUND.

I pulled the board, inserted KEY17 and reinserted it. Got two (2) lights lit (see second picture)

I again pulled the board. Removed KEY17 replaced game base chip.

Inserted the board back and turned it on. The VFD said call attendant. The LCD said ERROR - SOME REQUIRED COMPONENTS NOT FOUND.

Now what do I do/check? Everybody seems seated and no little legs sticking out.

Forget the LCD ERROR message.

I reseated the SIMM card (I had it in backwards and it was hard to get seated. Turned it around and it seated just fine) and that error went away.

I then changed into KEY17 got the two lights.
Turned it off
Replaced BASE chip

Now it passes the display test, does a memory test and then tells me to CALL ATTENDANT and the LCD is totally blank.

I pulled the board, inserted the KEY17 chip, got 2 lights, replace the chip left the door open had RAM ERROR on VFD until I closed the door.

Then the LCD lit up and says "Multi-Slave : System Error Occured!  Crash type : Invalid pointer    No VSound VxD found"

What is/are RFA25 and RFA24 ?

Answered your PM, the RFA is the operating system revision level.

You get the correct RFA version on a PCMCIA card, pop it in the slot on the side of the LCD box, and it will upgrade the OS on the LCD. Once it's done, you can remove it.

Okay.

Well thanks to your input and an emergency RAM and RFA25 fix from Blue Ridge, the Upgrade of the Vision LCD seems to have gone fine.

VFD got changed, correct version chip installed, 32mb added to LCD board, RFA25 upgrade, PCMCIA card for Ms. LGM installed and seated.

I turn it on and get the obligatory CALL ATTENDANT on the VFD and "Initializing: Please wait ..." on the LCD. So I wait ..... and cobwebs appear.

What is my next step?

Never mind the previous post.

Jim at Blue Ridge talked me through the set-up. Patiently explaining to me that the top and the bottom of the machine are two totally diffrent animals. The to is the Vision and the bottom is a standard S2000. He talked me through the set up and the KEY17 menu. After several reset key turns and an equal number of door opening and closings the reels spun and MS. LITTLE GREEN MEN was on the screen. The machine ate a dollar bill and the reels spun and ..... I lost !!

Now it is a matter of doing the mechanics moving the LCD screen and changing the glass.

I really have to give mega kudos to Jim at Blue Ridge for helping me and taking the time to talk me through the process as well as totally trusting me by sending me the parts I needed before getting the money first. He is a great guy. THANKS JIM !!
