Ok guys here it is the tech question of the night.

I would like to add the lighted bill acccepts stickers to my S2000 machines BUT I have JCM bill acceptors, LED bulbs in my buttons and multi-denom touchpads. I would like the stickers to be constantly flashing but do not have anywhere to plug in the bulb socket on the orange wire of the sticker.  Can I splice into a wire someplace to get constant power to run the sticker with the setup I am currently running or am I asking for the impossible?

The type of light should not really matter.
For the sticker you simply move the bulb from the existing holder to that of the one at the end of the orange cable.

If you want it on all of the time why not use the denomination light.

Jay,

I think (BIG ASSUMPTION??? MAYBE NOT AS I RE-READ, I MAY BE WRONG) he is saying that he has one of the LED versions of the Bill Entry light board... These have surface mounted LEDs, and as such no bulb socket... Duh! Duh! Duh! I ran into this in a machine and did not bother trying to figure out how to hook it up. I figured I would worry about it later and just changed to a "bulb" style Bill Entry light board... So I guess that you could say  Me, too! Me, too! Me, too! for his question.

CH CaptainHappy

ADD, if I am wrong in my assumptions above, maybe try plugging into the Bill Entry light board asI did! arrow Crazy Scratch Head Help

Would the 25c denomination light on the Winner Paid/Credit board be LED surface mounted as well ?

The 25c denomination is always on.

I could be wrong, as I suffer from chronic CRS, but I think that Bunker has a slot with both the fancy bill entry that indicates the denomination inserted and a flashing Bill acceptance sticker. Maybe he can shed some - *ahem* - light on the subject, at least for CH. Tongue Out

Cruise, are you sure that you want the sticker on all the time? They do wear out eventually, so if you actually play your machine most of the time it's on, the sticker would last longer if it were set up to turn off. If you tend to leave your machine powered and idle, it probably won't make much of a difference.

Jay,

He has the multi-denom touchpad that is where the 25c denomination light... I looked at mine, and it does not have a bulb socket. I have not opened it up, but I am almost positive that they have LED boards in them. Bunker and others have posted pictures of these units, I may be able to find thue posts by searching? You don't need the light bulb at all -- there's a jumper inside the control box that will let you switch it to "always on" with no bulb installed/wires not attached to a socket.

Here is how to change the setting: http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=7439.msg66636#msg66636

If you want you can use the denom light as well to make it stay on all the time.
Not recommended they do loose brightness over time.

Just to clarify a few things. I keep my machines on all the time and keep credits on all of them as well. I dont mind the sticker fading over time.

Normally when these stickers are installed the orange wire with the bulb socket is put in place of one of the bulbs in the bill accepter face, when the accepter gets power so does the sticker. If you have more than $3000 in credits on the machine the accepter will no longer be powered up. Like I said Normally.

To have the sticker flash all the time regardless of the amount of credits you can get the power from the center denomination window as many of you have said. In fact that is what I have done on a couple machines so far.

Im not asking for the sticker to be constantly illuminated just want it to constantly run through its cycle and flash regardless of the amount of credits on the machines. The problem I face right now is that the machines I want to add a sticker to:

1. do not have a normal bill accepter installed, I have JCM accepters which do not have any bulb sockets to plug the sticker into
2. do not have a single bulb illuminated denomination window, I have the LED touchpad which does not have a bulb socket to plug the sticker into.

I also have LED bulbs in my buttons so getting power from a button is probably not a good idea. I learned the hard way that these stickers and LEDs do not play well together.

Basically my question comes down to is there a wire somewhere in the machine that I can splice the orange wire on the sticker into and get my 12volts without causing damage to the sticker or machine.

Thanks for everyones input so far

Are you sure it's a 12Vdc socket that's needed to run the sticker?
or is it that the two orange wires just need to be a closed circuit?
I wonder about that?
Does it come on if you just stick a known good bulb in the socket with the 2 orange wires?
Or do the orange wires need power of some sort?

Im pretty sure the socket on the orange wires need to be grounded out, I have put a bulb in socket but the sticker did not work until I installed the bulb/socket into the denom window

Did you try running the wires to the DBV power supply?
Isn't that a source of 12Vdc?
I need to find some schematics.

I have not tried anything with this particular setup yet. My other machines are a simple plug the bulb in the denom window and Im done. With the setup on my other two machines Im at a loss because I dont have any bulb sockets to plug the sticker into. I actually asked Jim at Bettor Slots for his input since thats where i got the sticker from in the first place. He suggested posing the question to the group to see if anyone had done this before.

He doesn't have a denom window...he has the multi denom LED lights.
How about this?
Take a multimeter and see if the J2 connector on the 7 segment display
plug at pin locations has 13Vdc and the one next to it is a Ground.

The J2 connector is on the 7 segment display harness...Hang on , I got a better idea.
Your machine uses the same #73 bulb for 3 locations.
The denom box, the DBV and the Payline lights.
Since you do have a Denom box light socket, do you have Payline lights? Or a DBV light?
Problem with using the DBV klight is there's no power after so many credits though.
I'm only guessing that there's a harness in the door somewhere for the
Payline lights option that you could get 12 volts from?

You could splice one orange wire into the 12Volts there and use the other orange wire for ground.
However, I don't know which orange wire is power and which one is ground yet.
I need schematics on the lighted sticker to know that.
One way to find out is to stick the orange wired socket into another machine's denom
light and use a multimeter to find out which is ground and which is power.

I appreciate all the help tonight, this morning Stout

Denom box has a touchpad, no bulbs
DBV has no bulbs its a JCM
machines in question are 5 reel 9 liners so the paylines are LED no bulbs there either.

Im pretty sure the answer from Knagl earlier about switching the jumper will work, I just need to confirm what is meant by "always on"

There's STILL the 2-pin Molex on the door harness for the Denom light box?
(Has a green wire and a red wire)
It's not being used right now right?
That could be a source of power for your sticker.

Does "always on" refer to the entire sticker being constantly illuminated or if I switch this jumper will the sticker run through its cycles and flash like it normally would if I placed the bulb in the denom window

If you prefer, how about the term "always active."  Switching this jumper will do what you want to accomplish.  It will cause the sticker to always cycle so long as there ISN'T power being applied to the two orange wires.  It reverses the default behavior.  In fact, if you apply 5v after changing the jumper, it will turn the sticker off.

The jumper setting change (reply #7 for those of you who missed it) is the solution for hooking up this sticker to ANY slot machine, regardless of brand, voltage, etc., with the caveat that the sticker will always be on (active) and cycling through its programming, regardless of whether the bill acceptor is enabled or not.

The jumper is in the sealed power supply ?

I did not see mention of the Jumper in the stickers that I received.

My biggest problem with the sticker is that there is no room on my PE+ to adhere it.

Jay,

From what I can figure from the link in reply #7 there is a screw hidden under the adhesive tape on the transformer. Once I find that I can get inside and switch the jumper. Im not sure who it was but there was a post a while ago about the jumper controlling the speed and other options of the sticker. Im quite there was a lot or trial and error by at least one NLG member to figure all this out. Not something the manufacturer would want everyone to know hence no mention of the jumper with your stickers
