I came home from being gone a couple of days to my Bally E-Series making a heck of a noise. A solenoid in the door was clattering like crazy. It stopped when I opened the door, and the display showed 83 0000. I have the manual, but it doesn't show the 83 error code. I reset everything and no change; open the door and it stops the solenoid from cycling and close it and it clatters like crazy. In test mode it just cycles through the tests. Very odd.
My first thought is to pull all of the boards and connectors and re-seat everything. The thing has been fantastic and great to tinker with over the past couple of years Smiley

Hopefully someone knows how to fix this Wink

most likely you have an E1000 - on the mother board - there is a daughter board with battery attached - reseat the daughter board.

Thanks! I will try that when I get home. It is a wonderful machine, that's for sure.

YAY!  You Rock! That worked and the machine is back to working 100%. So the battery on the daughterboard is dead - 0.0v. What does it do? The only thing that seems to not be normal after turning it off and back on is the coin bypass opens for the first spin. I assume it retains some sort of memory, but the play count and all the stats are still fine from day 0.
