Help please with Ceronic 1492 FBT 'buzzing'

Hi all,
The picture on my aristocrat 540 went recently with a 'crackle and pop', there was a thin blue or green line for a few seconds and now nothing.
FBT is now 'buzzing' about twice a second continually so I assume it is no good? Without having too much experience with these is that the correct assumption? or could it be something else?

I am no electronics expert. It is my firm belief that all things electronics works on smoke. When smoke comes out, the electronics stop working and its usually impossible to get the smoke back in.

However with that said.... and as you have not reported smoke it sounds like we have a good shot at repairing this one......Usually that single line indicates that your flyback transformer isn't doing its job.
This is either the transformer (as you have indicated) or the high voltage transistor that is needed to drive this. The latter would cause the buzzing. Sorry thats all I got. There are lots of folks on this site
that could probably provide more detailed help. I have however emailed you the 1492 manual, repair log and schematic. Hopefully these will help you out.

It looks like 2 of 3 files made it too you.
The Manual which is the largest of the bunch bounced with the following: Mailbox disk quota exceeded.

Hi Jay, thanks for the info and the files. The log is very useful. Seems to be a common theme throughout the problems for most of them.

DO you know that part # of the high voltage transistor..I guess that is my first step!

Sorry You have exhausted the limits of my technical knowledge. 
We try and be helpful around here and I was just filling in until one of the electronics guys could jump in and save me from embarrassment.
You only thought I was kidding with my hypothesis on smoke.....

Just cause I own a schematic doesn't mean I can actually read one

lol, nah tried to catch the smoke but slipped through my fingers.
Manual was useful thanks will wait an any advise hopefully from an electronics guy!

Hi There

Need to know what monitor is in your machine. My Aristocrats have mostly Ceronix but it could be something else. Check on the monitor chassis and or monitor PCB for the manufacturer and model number.

Anyway head over to BellBenchTechs posts (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=191.0). I am not sure if he is still active on the forum but he has posted a lot of usefull repair tips that were transferred to the new site
You can also  check Robert E Sults Slot Notes (Link at the top of the page) - He also has lots of Ceronix repair tips.

The transistor you are looking for is a D1651 - Give it a bash and see what happens. If the smokes comes out agian move on to the FBT.
The transistor should be easy to source. For the FBT your best bet is probably direct from Ceronix.
