See attached which includes 3 other programs that are VERY useful.  TO (nee C2s.exe) which shows the turnover pulses for each machine, JP (nee C2Acct.exe) which dumps the jackpot history file out of the Master Con2 and PCID which allows an 8 character naming of the attached machines which replaces the cryptic Mikohn numbering for jackpots.

The computer is better with an older operating system and should have a real serial port, preferably COM1. The CON2 can have a problem with its RS232, check to see if the comms LEDS flash.  The cable is a simple 2-2, 3-3 and 5-5 D9; a display cable which also includes the shorting of 1-5 (switches the displays attention to its RS232 port) is OK. I always connect to the Accounting port on the CON2 as this is needed for the Jackpot History program.

I often use "ribbon" type D9 connectors and white, flat 4 core, phone type cable.  Robust, compact, heap and can be pushed together with my fingers (and finished using a "Vise Grip").
