One Reel Spinning?

My 5 Times Pay machine has been working fine until I got a 3100 message.  It shows that I was paid three credits, but it never kicked out any quarters.

Now nothing works - the weird part is that the right side reel just spins slowly more or less by itself.  Has anyone had this happen before?  I've tried the reset button behind the on/off switch and wiggled a few connections, but that's about where I though I'd stop...

Any suggestions, or should I go with the bigger hammer approach?

Not sure of this will help, but check to make sure the hopper did not stop with a coin blocking the optics. I has a 3100 that would not clear and that was the problem. I didn't have the weird reel spinning though.

Turn the jackpot key and close the door.  See if it returns to a normal state.  If not open the door again, powercycle the machine, then close the door again.

Thanks so much for the  replies - It turns out the contacts on the jackpot key switch were cruddy.  It's working again!
