Hey guys,

Forgive my ignorance here, but I'm curious about something.  I've been installing 3 reel / single payline kits with long reel glass in my S2000.  If a kit ever surfaced that was a 3 reel / 3 or 5 payline machine, what would be needed for me to install one of these in terms of reel glass or any PCB's behind the reel glass?  If memory serves, don't the multi-payline machines have an LED PCB that lights up the respective payline as coins/credits are played?  Again, the only component that is attached to my long glass is the VFD assy.  My printer is just below the upper glass.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason, there are 3-5 light shadowboxes that attach to the door behind the paylines on the reel glass. They would complete the game, but the theme can be played without them.

Tacman is right.
There is also a 5 or 6-pin single-row black Molex hidden in the door harness right near the hinges
under the deck that will serve as the power connector for the pay-line shadow boxes later on.

Thanks Dan.  Nice to know that they can be played without them, but it would be a splinter in my mind knowing that the game would not be complete without the 3-5 light shadowboxes.  Any photos of what these look like and what it would connect to?

Thanks,
Jason

The connector is black 6 wires
brown with stripes and 1 red wire.
it is probably hiding in the wiring near the service/change switch

Cool, thanks Foster.  I'll take a look at mine and see what I can find.  I'm curious what the glass would look like and how the magic light box would attach to it.  If one was trying to put a kit together, I'm assuming there is a special type of glass to accommodate the LED box?  Would the reel shelf need to be changed out too or does a standard 3 reel shelf for long glass suffice?

Thanks,
Jason

the shadowboxes get attached to a bracket utilizing the two bolts
on the door near the hinges to hold the shadow boxes in place.
Then all you do is attach the black 6-pin Molex to the shadowbox header.

The reel glass with the game specific proper amount of pay-lines would
then be needed to match the MAX bet of the game.
Usually, they're either 3 line going across or 3 lines going across with an X also.
If you can only get a 5 line shadow box, that's okay as it may be backwards compatible with the 3 line game.

A nine line game is totally different...
