Pad the shipping into the price.  I wouldn't spend 5 bills for an S+.

I really think it depends on where you live. You can't find a good condition S+ for $500 around here. They may be abundant some places, but not here. The only slot store around here has S+ machines with nothing more than duct tape over the tracking bar holes, and the machines have not even been dusted off. They start at $600.  no Shipping is the only real option and that can add up.

They sure aren't abundant up here in my neck of the woods either, but I still wouldn't pay that much for an S+ knowing what S2000's are going for and what you get.  I'd look into other options.  Wink  I sometimes forget that we eat, drink, and breathe machines as a hobby/profession and assume that the rest of the potential buyers out in the world hold the same level of passion and knowledge that we do.  Think back to where we all started when we got in...gotta start somewhere I guess.  There was a guy a few miles away from me that had an S+ Top Dollar machine on craigslist for $4000!  I guess it all comes down to educating yourself and understanding current market value.  I always wondered if he sold it and if he did, what he got for it.

Thanks,
Jason

Maybe they want what they paid when they got them. My first machines were an IGT S+ for $1000.00 and a Sigma SG50 for $900.00.
Sure wish I could get that now. I just got sold my SG50 for $200.00. I had a lot of yrs. enjoyment out of it.

I guess I'm just not into the slots enough to try and learn all of the ins and outs of a S2000. I've had my first S+ for quite a while and still seem to learn something new every day. Maybe I'm wrong, but is seems the S2000 can be a lot more complicated when you have a problem.

I like my S-pluses and would not want to simply exchange them for S2000s, but I would like to have a collection of S2000s. They offer better sound and a wider choice of game options (backlighting, 4 and 5 reels, vision games, Megatouch games, etc.) that deliver a richer playing experience than the S-plus can deliver, and I would like to have more expertise on their operation and repair, which I will only get through hands on experience.

That they are more complicated and difficult to troubleshoot could be viewed by many here as a challenge to overcome, and an opportunity to learn more about slot machine technology and electronics in general. After all, most members here get as much, or more, enjoyment out of upgrading and repairing their slots as they do playing them. The stereotype (by no means does it apply to all here) is that the husbands fix 'em and the wives and friends play 'em!  arrow

Having said that, the S-Plus was the workhorse of the industry for over a decade and is, IMHO, a more robust machine than the S2000. In addition, it will always hold a place in slot machine history. I also own two Bally EMs, and I would have bought some Mills, Pace, or Jennings mechanical slots if I could have afforded them. I play the EMs, and I would play my mechanicals if I had them: indeed, my Money Honey EM is a 1-coin machine. Each era of slot has its own pace of play, flavor, and appeal.

Just another of my 2ยข (I'll have to start printing more 2ยข coins if I keep this up. frying pan Cry Laughing Cry Laughing

The other problem (or maybe not) is all of the S2000 machines I have seen locally only take bills. I don't know if a coin acceptor can be added or if they also need hoppers etc. I still like to drop actual coins into a machine.

I said it before that when I left the Vegas area, everyone was changing over to TITO. There was just something about walking on the casino floor and not hearing the ching, ching, ching of coins paying out that seemed to ruin the atmosphere (IMO).  no

S2000s can have coin handling. In fact, they can have both at the same time, and if programmed properly, smaller pays can come from the hopper while larger ones are printed on a ticket. It goes without saying that you'd need a hopper. One reason that a home player might have for desiring both is to allow coin play and hopper payouts while also allowing friends to have a "souvenir" of large cashouts.

However, it doesn't make much sense to put coins in a machine with a game that takes more than 5 coins, give or take. A 9-coin (9-line x 1-coin) is a borderline case. Once you get into the multi-line multi-coin games that take 45, 90, or 180+ credits per spin, coin handling becomes an encumbrance, unless you set up tokenization.

I used to have it setup to have the option of coins or ticket on cashout regardless of amount. How is this done in the menus again??

I think I will collect the parts for an S+ over time and see how it goes. That would be a fun project and I have some of the parts already.
