Bally 6000

I have a Bally 6000 that pushed the cashout button then opened the door. Now the bill acceptor seems dead and in the winner paid  window is the code 88  7. I can't seem to clear it.
Can someone help or give me any ideas.

We need more information, since pushing the cashout button and opening the door would not cause a problem.

Were there credits on the machine when you pushed the cashout button? If so, did it finish paying out before you opened the door? If not, do you have plenty of coins in the hopper, and did it try to resume payout when you closed the door?

Did you do anything else? When did the display change to "88  7"?

A plain 88 code signifies a catastrophic error with the MPU board, but I'm not sure that that's what you've got. Did you pull the board with the power on? (I hope not)

Exactly what steps did you take to try and clear the machine?

Well, at this point I would suggest trying a Full SafeRam clear. You'll need a set of clear chips to do this, which you can get from one of our vendors.

If you still get an 88 error after the clear, then you've probably fried your MPU board.

A customer of mine removed the board while the machine was on, it fried the mains ( u 28, U 43 as well as the eprom games)

Good luck.

I always wonder why people get the odea to remove a board while the machine is not off.

Where do I get the clear chips and how do I do a SafeRam clear I'm very new to this. This is the first machine I've owned.
Also if that fails what next? and how pricey? Can I replace some of the chips or do I need to buy another board.

Complete clear required.  hold test and pseudo coin while booting with Saferam Clear chips.

I received the Ram Clear chips and installed them and did a complete clear now the error code I have is 83FO which I believe is I used the wrong clear chips.
The ones I used are marked PRO_SLOT 6000 RAM CLEAR U43 and  PRO_SLOT 6000 RAM CLEAR U28. Could they be the wrong chips or have I ruined the
MPU board?

did you hold the test and pseudo coin buttons while booting with the clear chips?  sometimes you have to hold the buttons quite hard.  The display should show CH C then CL C. if it's a complete clear, which is what you need to do.

Yes I did and it did show CH C and then CL C. Then I turned it off and replaced the chips and then I got the 82FO error code.

I'll assume you meant 83F0 as you previously stated.

   What mains do you have?  Your clear chips have to be new enough to work with the mains.  They are backwards compatible with older mains though.   If you bought the Saferam Clear  chips on EBay, they may not be the newest.  You can always use older mains if you have any.

I did mean 83FO sorry and yes I did buy them on ebay so I don't know if they're older or not. How do I tell which mains I have? I haven't any other chips at all.

is there any writing on them?  Jim at Blueridge had the newest available clear chips, others may have them also?

The mains are U28 and U43 the ones you are pulling out and replacing with the clear chips
there should be a sticker on them with number's please post back what they are.

You do know that these chips be it mains/clear only should be installed in one direction
with the notch facing the right way if not you will also ruin the chip.

Be it that you already pulled the mpu while the machine was left on
can't help matters here, I would definitely buy another mpu just in case
you can't go wrong buying these parts from blueridge and stay away
from those ebay chip seller's.

The only stickers on them say U43 and U28. However the numbers printed on each are U43 5850T 0330L and the U28 is AM270020 120DC.
The machine glass says it's a Bonus Times machine if that helps.
I guess if nothing else I'm learning a lot. Appreciate the help and patience.

Those numbers don't correspond with the U28/U43 main number's
what you posted is the make and speed of the chip.

The fact you first had a 88 error is not good
in some cases you can clear it, the 83f0 means invalid saferam
you either have newer mains that the clear chips you bought can't clear,bad clear chips,or a bad mpu do to the fact that you
pulled the mpu with the power on and then put it back in which is a NO NO.

Please note if you installed the clear chips backwards or the mains
at any time this will also corrupt them.

My advice to you is get another mpu (as stated above)with new mains and a newer set of clear chips(since the ebay seller never marked the version)
buy them from Jim  (Blueridge) I think he has a phone # in his vendor ad above
or you can pm him.

When playing with these machines it's always best to have a backup mpu
and proper clear chips.

Most of those ebay seller's offer no support
this is the #1 place on the net for help with slots
and the vendors here have what you need don't worry about asking questions
there are plenty of people here to help you get it running.

i ordered two new clear chips and did a complete clear.  after i did the clear the machine has a code 40.   i have had all kinds of problems with the slot machine.   i ordered two chips and they were old,  changed the battery, now got two new chips and the reels were spinning and all kinds of numbers on display,  now has a 40 code.   what do i do now?  i dont know a lot about slots.  this has me very frustrated.  please help
