Glad to have found this forum!!

I just picked up a Sigma SG-150B Plus Treasure Wheel machine and hit a stopping point on getting it going.

Upon startup the first hangup is it says " Bill Validator Error " but after closing the door, it says " resetting Bill validator " then the Reels start spinning and nothing stops them except a power off.

Reset key doesnt affect it, test button or front buttons don't do anything either.

does anyone have any idea of what to try?

Greatly appreciate it!

I need you tell describe to me exactly what's on the display as the reels are turning.
There's "Service Indicators" which will help me figure out what to tell you next...
Also, how is the candle on top of the machine flashing?
Finally, what are the numbers on the GAL chip #1?
I've attached a diagram of the GAL chip location...>>>

Hello!

While the reels are spinning, there is nothing lit up on the display.

Upon initial boot up before it says "starting up please wait a while" it has a _ in just the first digit area.

The candle has the very bottom (base) light lit up and solid, not blinking.

The chip reads   GA01-25C

Hope this informs you! thanks so much for the reply, looking forward to the next step!

Weird! Somehow some way, the reels stopped and now shows the code next to the P that the door is open or closed and also indicates that the cash can is not installed (does this affect play? Do i need to tape the sensors down?)

BUT! it says battery low, and im assuming this is why it wont let a coin in?  Do you know the voltage I need?

Thanks for the help!

I'm glad the reels stopped...sometimes it takes a while as really what's happening is
that the machine's MPU is going through it's boot up phase and
it takes longer when the machine has been off for awhile.
This is normal when there's a bunch of minor problems existing...

Some of the newer, more modern machines take much longer to "boot up" with
all their fancy LCD screens and on board computers.
People do not like to shut the newest slot machines off because they take so freaking long to "boot up".
You're lucky with your machine however, it doesn't take as long and the boot up times
will be even shorter once we get all the bugs worked out of it!  yes

Okay, let's get to work & have some fun here...

The cash can is on the right side of the cabinet.
There are two sensors I believe.
It was a lot of work because I remember pulling my cash box apart and
locating the sensors and wired up the ends together.
If you don't want to get into dis-assembling the cash-box area, try re-inserting the
cash can to see if that will make the error go away.

However, I'm suspecting that the low battery warning is telling you that the
battery on board the MPU went below a certain voltage.
It's not dead yet but it DID drop below a certain voltage threshold.
Now, this is my thinking.
If the machine HAS been off for awhile, then all you need to do is leave it on a day
or so to give the internal charger a chance to re-charge up that battery cell.

If after leaving it on for awhile doesn't relieve the low battery error code, then I will take
a look at mine in the morning and see what voltage and type of battery you'll need to replace yours.
A low battery doesn't really have an effect on coin comparator acceptance though.
Something else is going on there.

The coin comparator on a Sigma has a LED light right smack in the middle of it.
That LED light remains "On" when you open the door of a Sigma 150B.
Is it on?
Also, on the coin comparator, there is a slider that uses a "Sample Coin".
This "Sample Coin" must match the coin you're trying to drop through the slot.
Basically, if you're using quarters, push the slider over towards the right a slip
in a quarter behind the spring-loaded holder.
Once you have the quarter in place as your "Sample Coin", close the door,
let the reels do there thing then watch the display for it to show -
that you can drop a coin in.

Always watch the display and get familiar with what it shows you as you close the door.
Learn how your machine behaves and be aware of any unusual codes.
I will try to help you furthermore later on with codes and their meanings
and how to troubleshoot your machine.

Also, clean the crap out of your machine using a duster or a compressed air can.
If you use the compressed air, never turn it upside down or completely sideways or alcohol and
water will come flying out rather than air.
Water, alcohol are not good for electronics!

 Hail Hail Hail

You're awesome!

It's up and running just a couple of bugs weird bugs to work out!

1. The pull arm handle is stuck in the down position. It's moves about 1/2" and definetly doesn't want to go up! It moves smoothly over the distance that it does travel and I can't see anything that would be jamming it up. Do I need to disassemble it completely or is there something i'm missing here?

2. When navigating the "Menu" all of the buttons work fine. But when playing the machine, the "Bet One" and "Spin" (spin for the bonus game) don't work. What is weird is when I open the door during the time when I need to press the "spin" for the bonus wheel, and press the button it works fine!!  I'm puzzled why it would work in one mode but not the other, reseating the connections wouldn't seem like it would change anything!

Thanks for your help!!!  Hail
The sound on this is awesome!! Especially when you hit the bonus spin IT TALKS!! I've only worked with Bally's 5500 and 6000 machines!

Yeah....It sounds like a bunch of kids yelling "Free Play!"     rotflmao

Take the handle apart and check it out.
Probably something busted or a spring fell off of it.
There's some sort of release switch that allows the handle to go back up after it's been pulled.
The only way is to take it apart and find out why.
Jiggle it around...something loose?

You bet one and bonus spin buttons have connectors that like to "fall" off sometimes.
Open the door, peer around the corner and see if the little white plunger touches the
micro-switch when you press down on the button.
You may just have to wiggle the micro-switch back up there a little snug
until you hear it kinda clip back into place.
Don't force it so much or you'll bust the dried out plastic threads.
You may be needing new buttons soon if they're getting dry-rotted.

You had it right on the Pull Arm, the spring loaded lever in the back was a little sticky. Works perfect now!

Still having some issues with the switches though  Duh!

I understand how the switches work and how they can "fall" and lose that gap needed to click in, but every one of the switches is seated pretty well and all actuate the switch with no problem.

What I don't get is how it wont work with the door closed, but pop the door open a little bit and they work just fine. I turned the sound off to hear the switches and they click just fine.

I fortunately have 2 of the exact switches to swap out, one of which has the same size button as the "bet one" button.

Question: Even with a solid click, could they just be in need of replacement? The cherry switch and/or the button?

Thanks much!! I shined it all up and took one picture before my battery died  Silly Me!  I will get some on here ASAP!

you know what?
It sounds like the wires are backwards on the door cherry switch.
That explains why the deck switches aren't fully working.
I'll check out the configuration of the cherry switch wiring in the morning and post back for you.

is it a DIP switch setting? I cant find it!

Thanks!!

With the power off (always turn off the power whenever removing or inserting electronic components!)
slide out the MPU board a bit.
You see the two 10-dip dip switches?
The bank on the front of the board nearest you is "SW1".
The bank of dip switches 9 technically called "posts") behind that is "SW2".

On bank SW1, I have posts 1, 4 and  10 "ON".

On bank SW2, I have posts 6 and 8 "ON".

When the posts are in the forward positions facing nearest you, they are "OFF".
When the posts are positioned towards the rear of the machine - they are in the "ON" position.

SW1, post #4 is the one that makes your game allow
credits to the display rather than drop to the tray.

Sweet! That did it! Thank you!

So as far as the switches go, I think it's some sort of pressure pushing them just slightly out or a cable being pinched. If I very slowly close the door the switches all work fine. If I close the door "normally" some or none of them work!

Went in and adjusted the volume and changed up some Reel Spin effects, machine is amazing!!

I have one light out on the bonus wheel up top, can these be replaced individually?

Thanks again!!

Just out of curiousity, what are these worth? I know it retailed for $1,500 but do they retain value pretty well or no?

Thanks

I have no idea what the value of these are.
I got this one from an old lady down the road from me
who had it in her garage for like 7 years...lol
Her son brought it me and it was NOT working.
I can't remember if it was $250 or $350 that was paid for it.
I invested about $100 into it and a lot of cleaning and it works like a charm!
I've had no problems with it for over 2 years I've been fooling around with it.
The lights in the one I play with I think are different from yours>>>

This is from a Treasure TUNNEL...
They are HIGH VOLTAGE neon tubes.

The LED modules around the edge on his machine do plug in, the lamps in the center of the wheel are "Tivoli" based incadescent lamps......

Hey Mitchell,
Just my two cents. The 40pin ribbon connector that goes from the door to the board, sometimes gets damaged/pinched from opening and closing the door. This could possibly be causing the switch problem. Check this ribbon for cracks/pin holes or just out and out pinched flat. Hope this helps.

This is definetly what is causing it I just realized a few minutes ago while checking out all the reel settings. 2 of my switches went out and with a readjustment of the ribbon they came back on! I'll have to find it's "happy place" and snug it up!

I realized too I have quite a few lights out up top on the wheel, I only have 1 of the lights working behind the "2x, 3x, 5x" numbers, should look ALOT cooler when those are replaced!

Check with Ben @ Fannini slots for the replacement bulbs & possibly the ribbon. Be sure you have a 50pin, not sure if a Sigma 150 & 300 are the same, I believe they are.  These are really cool machines, but be warned, they can be very temperamental. I have been battling with two machines (Treasure Tunnel & Free & Easy)to get them up and running for months now. Finally got the Treasure Tunnel working. Will probably be parting out the other one, if it continues to be obstinate. Good luck.

I took apart the bonus wheel at the top to see what bulbs I need, looks hard to find...

Are the small LED's able to be pulled and swapped out?

And where on earth will I find the Spider looking light? The box with 8 prongs...

I found a site selling the whole board with lights for $25, is that the best option?

Thanks much!!

I am by no means a Guru when it comes to these machines. Most of what I have learned is through the great help of the fellow members on this site, as well as trial and error (a lot of error) Duh! Duh! Duh!.  I am not real familiar with the Free & Easy(its the one that is giving me trouble)or the Treasure Wheel machines, but have become close friends with the Treasure Tunnel. If you are talking about the square LEDs/bulbs, yes they can be pulled out (carefully)& replaced. As I had mentioned, Ben @ Fannini Slots probably has the bulbs. Another option, Rudys Steals & Deals has a bar with I believe 5 or 6 of those square LEDs attached to it for like $3.79. You can buy the unit & remove the bulbs. I don't know what machine the unit goes to, but the bulbs are all the same and that's all you really care about. I'm not sure of the "spider" light you speak of Scratch Head Scratch Head? If you're talking about the round circle light bar with the square LEDs, they are hard to find. If you plan on keeping the machine having spare parts are a definite must. If you post a WTB in the classifieds of this site, somebody may have one for less. You might ask slots4home if he has any Sigma parts left. He helped me out with some much needed parts. The bill validator may not have the correct chip in it, but being it takes a new $20 or $100, kinda tells me it should take all but the new $5 bills, it may just be a setting. As I have said, I'm not real savvy to these games, just learning as I go. Do you have a manual for this game? Should be one on the site or ask a member. I have one for a SG300 upright, most all of these machines use the same parts & have generally the same set up. If I can figure out how to send a copy to you I will or have a friend (jimise) send you one. If possible, posting pictures really helps.

The DBV200 check your dip switch setting, on switch bank 1 all dips should be off and maybe you should clean the bill entry, use tap water, clean the windows, sensors, and belts. I do have all the lamps you need for the machine.
