...well, not the slots themselves, but Mystic has been doing some major Vegas-style remodeling to their entire casino.  I'd guess they're well over 75% done (or at least, they were).  Some welding work today, however, caught some insulation on fire and a fire burned for just over 30 minutes and at one point could even be seen through the roof.

No injuries, and the casino is HUGE so only a section of it had to be evacuated.  No word yet on the extent of the damage from the fire and the water used to put it out.

Wound up going there for dinner last night (the buffet is nowhere near where the fire was) -- business as usual for most of the casino.  Most of the damage was contained to the area of the floor that was already closed off for remodeling.  They did section off an additional hundred or so machines that were close to the fire area, but there did not appear to be any major fire or water damage to that area or the machines, as best as I could see through the temporary curtain walls they put up.

The closest 1/4 of the casino to that area, however, had a very distinct and strong post-fire smell.  Having been through a fire at the apartment building I used to live at, I recognized the smell right away.  ...and that smell cut through the strong cigarette smoke smell that usually coats the casino air.
