HI Everyone.
I recently purchased a non operating 1983 Ballys E2000 five cent slot machine. Was told it was working for 6 years till around 6 months ago.
So I purchased a refurbished main power suplly and installed it. Now it powers up. But when inserting nickle, I still cannot pull the lever down.
Has a code 50.000 in the win window. Also the reels are free spinning and not locking up when powered up.
I also went through some old post here that states the code 50 000 is for front door open. I checked what was suggested in that post which is push in cherry switch located in behind bottom door hinge & activate the coin slot mechanism and keep cherry switch pushed in. I did it in that order and as soon as I activated the coin mechanism the Tilt lights up on the front door. I also checked the front door open switch located on the front door and it already has been bypassed.

(Second Step)So now I hit the reset and now I have a error code of 80. 000 . The  reels still dont lock up. Any suggestions?

(Third Step) I just took a further look in the machine to find a black wire broken off at a transformer at the right rear side. (see picture) When the arm was pulled down at sometime the rest of the mechanism ripped off that wire. So I souldered the wire on and now the reels lock up. But I have multiple codes cycling through the win window starting with 50. Tryed hitting the reset but does not change anything.

(Forth Step) I just tried reset and close the door. The machine just goes through cycles and many codes. I spent a few minutes standing watching the win window to capture the codes. It starts with a 50.00 and the last 2 didgits always increase up by one. Then a 50. 88 .88 then heres the following codes.
I also checked the Ni Cad battey on the MPU. 3.7 volts. OK

50.1.101

50.1.104

50.1.108

50.1.110

50.1.120

50.1.2.01

50.1.2.02

50.1.2.04

50.1.2.08

50.1.2.10

50.1.2.20  (loud buzz)

50.1.3.01

50.1.3.02

50.1.3.02

50.1.3.04

50.1.3.08

50.1.3.10

50.1.4.01

50.1.4.02

50.1.4.04

50.1.4.08

And the the cycle repeats itself with the only thing different would be the first number with the last didget cycleing up. (50.00.43, 50.00.44, 50.00.45 etc...)

Any suggestions?    Scratch Head

Thanks in advance.

-Joel

I went back to the slot machine today I gave it another go.
I turned it on, hit the reset and then hit test. Heard a click. No more cycling of numbers. Has a fixed 50. 000 in win window.
Closed the front door of the machine. Plugged it back in. Still has a 50.000 in win window. "Insert coin" light is lit up. Put a nickle in the machine and all 4 coin rows light up & flash on top of the machine (see picture) except for the 5th coin row. 5th row does not light up or flash. ??????
Still cannot pull handle down. Still inop.
Any suggestions.   hissy fit

Hi Malibujoel & welcome the NLG.   Congrats on getting a nice looking Bally E2000 Series slot machine.  If you're gonna fix one of those guys you'll need to get familiar with the built-in maintenance tests.  There are several internal maintenance routines which will help identify what is and what isn't a malfunction.  You already found one of them accidentally- the cycling error codes.  That was actually a maintenance test you started - #2 by your description.  Since your machine is powering up and it is capable of performing the tests (the MPU is alive) you can fully exercise the machines function and let us know what exactly is giving you some trouble.  Take a look at the manual I just sent you.  Consitter it a door prize.   applause

Your free spinning wheels can be checked by test #8 & #5
Coin lights- Test #2
Handle solenoid-  Test #2
Your loud buzzer at 50.12.20 was a test of your door buzzer during test #2
All cherry switches - Test #3
And so on ....

Cheers- Mark

Hey Junkman.

Thank you for checking back with me.
My schedule became so busy that I was unable to dedicate time to the slot machine. But plan on getting back to it really soon.
I will definetly post here again as I have a strong feeling Im not done yet.
