What model BV is it? And it takes the new colored $5 bills?

Check the dip switches on the bottom first and make sure it's not set up to only take 5s

Guess I should also ask if it ever worked. It might just need a cleaning.

Make changes with the power off.   propeller

Is your game from New Jersey?  I know that Jersey machines don't accept $1 bills (NJ Gaming reg), but that would be fixed by changing the dipswitch as poppo posted.  I would imagine it should have accepted a non-colorful $20, though.

Are you talking about the switches on the MPU (the big board in the back of the machine)?

The dip switches are on the bottom of the bill validator head. Just remove the one screw shown here, pull it out a bit and look under the BV head. You may have to unplug the cables going to the head if there is not enough slack.

I opened the bill acceptor and both banks of dip switches were all set to "off". I set the first six switches on the bank that had ten to the "on" position. When I put it back into the machine, it would not light up or take any bills. I then returned it to the previous state (all switches off) and put back into the machine and again it still will only take the Standard big head $5 bill. It has worked before so it should be something simple. Just need to try something else I guess.

That would be the correct settings to accept all bills.

Since you said it worked before, it might just need cleaning (or calibration). Don't use alochol on the optics though. Check your e-mail.

Still having trouble with my machine only accepting $5 bill but nothing else. The dip switches are set correctly, and it has worked in the past. I have changed out the reel glass and strips and eproms for another game, could that have something to do with it? I did the set and clear as well...............Gotta be something simple. Any ideas?

Thanks

Did the problem start right after you installed the new game?

Are you getting the proper number of credits when you insert a $5?  (How many credits are you getting, and is it a $0.05, $0.25, or $1 machine?)

If it's accepting a $5, you absolutely should be able to get it to accept a $20 (try a non-color one if you can).

it gives the proper # of credits (20) it is set up as a 25 cent machine. Strange thing is it only accepts the big head five, not the regular 5 dollar bill. It will not accept the big head "red" five either. I will not accept old ot neww bills of any typr 1-100 dollar bills.

Do you have a second machine you can swap bill heads with to isolate the problem to the head (it likely is, but I'm quickly running out of ideas)?
