I think you can change the mpu and just have the normal errors (miss match) and such. You will loose your progressive set-up but why
would you change the I/O cards ?

I believe that swapping the MPU board along with the EEPROM (which might first have to be modified to add a socket) would keep all of the books and settings together. You would then have a separate EEPROM for each game/board setup.

I'm not sure if that's all you need with the S2000, but I think so. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

P.S. If you're mentioning the IO cards because you want to change back and forth between singe and double bet decks, and possibly between 3, 4, and 5 reel setups, and games with and without the LED displays on the left side of the reel glass, then I'll defer to the experts. However, I think that those types of swaps are not trivial and that you might be better off with multiple machines if you plan on making such changes frequently.

do you have a keychip?
You will need it if you want to change some default settings.
Otherwise, no...you won't need to change anything because when
you install a game, it defaults to it's original settings after you clear chip it.

If you do not clear chip the machine, it will use some ( not all ) of the settings
that were previously on both the MPU and the machines' backplane prom.

I would 1st install the MPU with the different chips you've put in it and see what errors come up.
Errors are very easy to get rid of when you the help of NLG and all it's members!

Stat's right but that little chip has to be in a socket...
Because it's way in the back in between metal walls about 1-1/2inches apart -
it's not easy to get out unless you have small woman-like hands...

Has anyone tried a ZIF socket, either regular or low profile?

David It's just a little 8 leg chip. I don't know if they make a ZiIF that small ( and no I'm not going to try to find one )  Bunker doesn't tell the part that if you remove one screw the whole outer cover of the MPU housing comes off and you have all the room you need to change the chip !!!!!!!!!!!

...

It makes sense, now that I think about it. They probably figured that it's so easy to remove the small chips that no one would buy them.
